They seem to have got themselves into a bit of a pickle. The daft racist cunts.

Get off the fence Bolty ffs!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I thought holding out the olive branch was the best course to take.

Same shit kicking off at Essex CC now? Soon it will be all of them.

The C word will loom large. Compensation.

I trust this will extend to all nasty name calling as I have a catalogue of vile insults from posters on here.

You have been warned 😉

Dont spend all your compo at once though, Angela Raynor will be after you for calling her a repulsive slag 😁

Adil Rashid has now corroboarted Rafiq's claim that Vaughan said what he denies he said. He's the secomd person, after Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, to do so.

That's pretty damning.

So long as they're being truthful.

And so long as they heard the full conversation and not overheard some part of it in passing. Context can be vital.

Something just doesn't sit right here. Just a hit after the horse has bolted.

Context is vital and it's plausible the comment - if it were made -might've been intended as a joke.

But Vaughan categorically denied saying it and now three people who were supposedly present have claimed he did. For Vaughan to be right all three would have to be lying, which seems unlikely.

Fuck it. Its not like he made comment on the size of an oven, is it?

Supposedly present. Your words.

Therein is an immediate problem. Present where- directly with him and part of a conversation, or a few yards away doing something else and just catching the odd word.

No one knows, and if they can't prove it then why should Vaughan or anyone else be questioned?

I still don't understand why these lads didn't raise any concerns at the time rafiq launched his complaint.

Rashid's statements claims the comment was made "to a group of us Asian players".

That would suggest to me he was at least physically present and also felt the comment was addressed directly towards him (note he states "to" a group of "us Asian players" and not "about").

I'm not claiming Vaughan made the comment, although I think on the current publicly available evidence it's more likely than not that he did, but there seems to be an immediate assumption of bad faith on the part of the Asian players which I think is unfair.

I agree if it’s a culture at the club how can a small minority go up against the established players and management .

Of course he should be questioned about it if an accusation has been made. (Whether there is any action taken against him is an entirely different)

Let's say you saw someone commit a fairly nasty crime.  You tell the police and they ask if you have any evidence other than you seeing it.  You say "no" and they say "fuck it we'll not even bother speaking with them then".  That'd be a bit shit.

Apparently Rafiq reported it when it happened and this was upheld by the investigating team hired by Yerkshire in 2020 .

I'm not sure that's correct, is it?

I read it in an article on the Guardian live app earlier and quoted it word for word it now appears to have been pulled .

Also think folk asking why some of these claims werent made earlier are either naive or just think they should man up

Try reading the posts more accurately.

Rafiq made his complaint some time ago. The others should have joined him then.

My wording should have been better- of course ask him the relevant questions. What cheeses me off somewhat if folk questioning his rebuttal of accusations. Without proof he's entitled to some backing. Instead it seems folk want to throw him to the lions.

I note that it's barely been mentioned that another individual who was supposed to be there has no recollection at all of the comments.

Surely it's reasonable to question his rebuttal if two other people have corroborated Rafiq's claim?

Not argue it's conclusive proof, but question.

Northamptonshire now. Implosion beckons. Once English County Cricket is completely controlled by the subcontinent it should all settle down (apart from the Indians and the Pakistani's kicking off with each other of course).

Azeem Rafiq is English, as are Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid.... I think you're confusing "English" with "White"....

Gary Ballance is getting a right going over here

Must be a bit simple.

They best buckle up because there'll be more of it to come. Floodgates have opened now.

Anyone saying "Why didn't they say anything at the time?". Well, it's been proven over the years that it's not always so easy.

Just look at the cases of rape and child abuse over the years where the victims/survivors only felt the courage to do it so many years later.
