Xmas Dinner

What we having?

Sister in law (modest handful) and her fella split, in-laws in France, so it's just the five of us at home. If I'm honest, I can't really be arsed; it's an early Sunday dinner, and will have all the fannying around without the extra gifts and booze.

Anyway, kids want turkey. They didn't have mash last year, and tbf I didn't miss it; however they insist. The wife usually asks for gammon, and that's my usual contribution to a family meal. I'm looking forward to making gravy, semifredo etc in advance. Go forth good folk of WWays; inspire me with your festive fayre

Friends of ours go to Miller & Carter every year. I think it's costing them about £300 for the 5 of them this year, and that's before drinks

I did Blundell a few years ago. Was alright but food went down hill in there and not been in since.

Did hello fresh Christmas box that was alright.

Did cherry tree cook at home last year that was alright.

Doing aldi duck this year at home. Hope it's alright.

We've come to the realisation that it's a glorified Sunday roast.

We had a guard of lamb all lined up for this evening but with the Mrs not being able to taste anything, seemed like a waste so lamp chops tonight, but with my favourite-celeriac soup for starters.

I've a milk churn full of sherry which may last the whole of Christmas Day and it promises to be a lot of fun.

A trolley full of birthday cakes to go with it?

Aldi had 75% off turkeys at 1pm.

If you've got the balls to wing it late you can save a fortune.

I know, got one, cook it up, good for soup

And a carrier bag full of snouts which may suffice over the whole of Christmas Day, which will be spent in the company of a small boy in a mouse costume - it should be a lot of fun.

Don't think anyone has mentioned Xmas dinner drink yet, does it have to be wine or is a beer or Strongbow or even a can of Coke allowed?

Start the day with the traditional Soixante Neuf then a bottle of Vino Nopaino, beers will be El Blottos then finish the day with a a Pinot Ante-socio with the usual Domestia Argumenta

Does anyone actually like Baileys or is it just bought cos it's Christmas? Really not keen on creamy drinks.

My 3kg cockerel ended up being a fat bastard 4.5kg... its obviously been a good year for cockers, same price so I suppose I  saved about twelve quid (but we only needed 3kg)... its got legs like Stuart Storer

Comes out at Christmas with the egg flip

I love Baileys, have made my own from time to time as well.

Remember one year getting made redundant and having about a litre a day of the homemade stuff. Great memories  🙄

It's alreet if you chuck a brandy in it .

I was on a bender once (a drinking binge not a gay fella).

I took to supping Baileys - eventually the shop ran out so I had to buy Sheridans instead.

I also had a binge on champagne once - dunno why.

Indeed, we do that. Also lob it into hot chocolate as well on occasion

Have you ever drunk Bailey's from a shoe?
