I used to hate a roast, love them now.

I think it's because, for some reason, we used to have boiled potatoes, which I fucking hate. I've banned them from my house, so any roast I have, the only spuds allowed on the plate are roast spuds.

Hear hear.

Boiled are rarely OK, tend to go mushy. Can't be doing with mash- evil stuff.

Roasties are stupendous, and a newly dug new potato, steamed is heavenly.

Just dug some out today!

For me though, as a kid I didn't like veg the same.

Still not a great fan of certain ones, but will happily eat plenty now.

Did Christmas Eve for 6 at ours. I was boiling and prepping spuds at 10am (roasted in garlic and rosemary). We ate around 5.30pm.

Then did a Christmas morning cooked breakfast for 6. Followed by a Christmas dinner for 3.

Pretty much share all the cooking in our house, think we both enjoy it. Wife did a stupendous cooked ham (boiled in Henry Weston cider and roasted in cloves and honey). Had cauliflower and broccoli cheese bake. Not had a single sprout this Xmas.

Must admit roasted are the best though.

100%

Beef dripping from the butchers, salt, pepper, bit of thyme and a couple of garlic cloves thrown in the pan ... can't be beaten.

Do love a new potato, usually with a salad or bbq.

Jackets can fuck off.

Jacket potatoes with a good crispy skin and soft fluffy centre are bloody lovely.

Nothing beats a really good roast spud though.

I remember years back having mash made to some slimming world recipe that contained no butter or even milk, it was awful slop.

Yep, its that time again, just boiled the kettle to steep a box of Bachelors bigga marrowfat .

It's an overnight job and you need the patience or they won't be right, I'd say 16 hours at least to steep and wash and boil till mushy& thick, perfect.

Just seen a video of Wayne Rooney admitting to being a mushy pea type. Further proof that he's a Fucking wrong ‘un.
