Xmas Dinner

What we having?

Sister in law (modest handful) and her fella split, in-laws in France, so it's just the five of us at home. If I'm honest, I can't really be arsed; it's an early Sunday dinner, and will have all the fannying around without the extra gifts and booze.

Anyway, kids want turkey. They didn't have mash last year, and tbf I didn't miss it; however they insist. The wife usually asks for gammon, and that's my usual contribution to a family meal. I'm looking forward to making gravy, semifredo etc in advance. Go forth good folk of WWays; inspire me with your festive fayre

3 meats, turkey ( breast roast roll) from Morrisons, not cheap but nice and no waist.

Pork, probably leg roast circa £8.

Gammon, probably from tesco, again £7-8.

Plenty left over for barms on boxing Day.

Stuffing recipe is one we saw on a tv cookery show about 15 years ago by a female chef, name i can't remember but i think its still on the bbc website.

Mushy peas made from them old fashioned soak overnight batchelers.

Carrots are a tom kerridge recipe.

Red cabbage, (frozen from lidl) if available.

Roasties, home made.

Sprouts, only me likes em.

Yorkshire's? NO WAY.

Little sausages with bacon, love them.

Gravy??? Maybe buy some.

Mushy peas though.

Still not convinced it was real. Slipped in mid-post in the hope that everybody would notice without making it too obvious.

Chennai in Glazebury for us again 👍

Damn right, just finishing them now, letting them stand a bit to thicken up.

We have Started to toss in a handful of petit pois at the end for presentation.

Good lad.

Mixing it up a bit to take it to another level.

The thickening ... well that's just inspired 👍🏻

I've just eaten a Christmas dinner that included marrowfat peas. The absolute filthy heathens!

Merry Christmas to one and all.

Huge feast, and now the guts a suffering.

Bird stripped, and carcass being simmered for stock.

Turkey, gammon, stuffing, roast spuds, mash, carrots, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, sprouts with bacon, red cabbage and gravy at my mum and dad's this aft. A savage feed. At my brother's now at it again.

Had a bad doo tonight , posh Belgium restaraunt think they’ve served us horse…no spuds no Yorkshire pud, utter shite.

So you expected Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes in a posh Belgium restaurant in Spain?

Just to add, there's loads here won't have yorkies with anything other than roast beef so not that unusual.

Have a great Christmas regardless!

Being a humbug

There isn't a meal in the world that isn't improved by the addition of a handful of petit pois.

Haha not quite. Was quite disciplined tonight. Didn't go anywhere near the pasties.

Brexit benefits

Went to the Blundell... Meat was OK but I think eating out is for twats who can't cook.

Or don't want to wash up.

£30 for all the meats I needed (and extra) off Flecky’s (some will know him on here) stall on the market, enough for 7 of us yesterday, turkey broth today and turkey butties for tomorrow and the day after.

Neighbour paid £90 for theirs from M and S and said it was shite.
