A few months ago my telly screen started to turn black when watching. It would start in all corners moving to the center till it was completely black. Looks turned off but can still hear the sound.

It would work fine once turned off and on again for a week or so but tonight it's done it all fucking night.

I've tried resetting the tv and cleaning out all the cable ends but nowt seems to be working.

Time for a new one or is it fixable?

You just need an inflated balloon. It’s static moving across your screen.

Have you tried throwing it down the stairs?

You're going to think I'm taking the piss, but I've done this with several "knackered" TV's that would have gone to to the tip otherwise. Remove the control board and put it in on a piece of cardboard, cover it with alumium foil, then stick it in the oven for 20 minutes on 200 degrees. It re-flows all the solder and makes it good as new. I promise.

I live in a bungalow.

Take it round to your mates and throw it down his stairs. If that doesn't sort it, switch it with his.

You need at least 245C to reflow solder don't you?

You sometime get a reset button on the back of the tv. I’ve had sound but no picture and pressing it reset it, it’s tiny, and usually need a pin to press it

Would it not be quicker in the microwave?

I had my 6 year old TV fry itself in some sort of audio visual suicide after my Mrs got back from holiday and spent 48 hours solid watching love Island in catch up.

Some guy up Breightmet fixed it by replacing a board within the TV. £130.

It's still going now 6 years on. Need a new one now really.

Edit.. I think it was Video clinic... Would recommend
