Right, first time doing this, so what the fuckity do I need to know not to get ripped off by an accountant? I'm getting a price off the company that does our PAYE, but I've a feeling it might be a bit pricey, although by tax affairs should be pretty simple over the past year. Try to register with HMRC within 3 months of commencing self employment and then you'll get your all important 10 digit tax reference number which you'll need when you do eventually complete your first tax return.
