I think street parties are hit and miss. Don't have them now, but I recall them then.

Every street in Highfield had one, burglars had a field day.

Hm. I remember getting a block of chocolate (in a tin) and a Coronation tumbler at school in `1953.

I still have the tumbler and kept my Meccano nuts and bolts in the tin for many years. I think it is now in a loft of a former residence, along with the other meta bits.

Sorry meant don’t recall anywhere around where I was , certainly not my street or neighbouring ones , I  do remember seeing them on the telly at the time, knew they were a thing but just not round our way . 

77 memory is of a seedy Marc Almond lookalike in a pavilion on Leverhulme Park. Don't think anything happened but he certainly was not right. So much so that I remember him 40 years on.

Silver Jubilee was a thing in 1977 but why wasn’t the Golden Jubilee (2002) and Diamond Jubilee (2012) similarly celebrated?

They were. We had an extra bank holiday each time...

I remember my mum and her friends arranging a Jubilee party on the football pitch at South Avenue in Kearsley. 
At 10 I considered myself far too old to go to such things so went to Kearsley Legion with my dad and drank pop and ate crisps all day.

Best place I have lived. OK you can't get a doctors or dentist appointment for days/weeks but you can get a decent pint! 😄

For the Jubilee, the pubs were allowed to open all day. That’s what made it special. Even for the anti royalists.

To be fair, that’s how I remember it. I was in Adlington at the time and was used to various ‘lock Ins’ so I can’t be certain.

Fairly sure they did the same for Charlie’s first marriage in 1981. 

Quick check and it was as late as 1988  when all day drinking came into law.

All a long, long time ago, but at least the Whites had a decent team.
