Losing more overs tonight, that won’t be made up.

I understand the “well you’re getting great entertainment “, blah, but it’s blatantly cheating the customer. England are as culpable and might regret the overs lost yesterday.

It's not a new phenomenon neither.

About time the authorities did something about it.

Complete novice question. What happens if it gets rained off tomorrow or Saturday? Is it just a draw, or is there some maths involved?

It's over 5 days so last day is Sunday, if a win either way is not reached, then it's a draw.

In short.

Cheers. So I'm guessing once we've declared or are All Out tomorrow, Australia's second innings will be slow as fuck, hoping the weather gives them a draw?

In the past yes, however this series has possibly changed the approach to test cricket, but this will probably be the case. I don't think the Aussies have bought into it yet.

Cheers gents. I've done this for the last 4 or 5 Ashes. I enjoy having Test Match Special on in the background, and I slowly start to understand it, then I forget everything again as soon as it's finished.

I'm like that with Rugby Union, anyway big big day tomorrow.

We need to win the last two tests to win the Ashes back.

If we can't do that, then I'd take a drawn series. I don't really buy into all that retaining stuff.

They’ve tried, by docking points and fining match fees, but cricketers are pushing back on the match fees. The authorities should represent the fans and push back. Khawaja has been vocal with the authorities.

The retaining is critical.

Bothers me that Khawaja has had something to say, considering he's the epitome of the dullard, slow, anti-entertainment cricket that Australia are using to limit England's style of play.

Yesterday, Crawley passed Khawaja for leading run scorer in the series in less than half the balls faced.

Room for all styles in test cricket.

Start buggering around with it and what then- a risk it becomes a stretched one dayer.

Slippery slopes.

Don't know what UK has said though, but the authorities perhaps should look at affecting the game directly- slow over rates means docked runs or similar.

Aussies bowling for rain. A complement to England in a way.

Stokes just gone now.

Quick burst from Bairstow and Brook needed now and get them in.

Aye, let's just start swinging the bat and see where we are just before lunch - are they likely to put them in for a couple of overs before lunch if we're around 170/180 in the lead?

I’d rather be bowling than batting now

Have I got this right - if we declare now, we've got to bowl them All Out for 188 this afternoon/evening, otherwise it's highly likely to end in a draw?

I think there is a chance of play on Sunday as well (apparently fuck all chance of any play tomorrow though..)

I sincerely hope the brave new world of selfless English cricket isn't delaying a necessary declaration so their mate Jonny can get a milestone
