MancWanderer Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Got here at 11 Genuinely thought no chance of play today. Continued pissing down. Puddles all over the place Massive credit to the ground staff for getting the game on Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Bowling a bit confused. This short stuff is so predictable. Â Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Important wicket, thought there were two for a minute. Quote
globaldiver Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Lot of trying different things and, again, all very slow. Weather looks shit for tomorrow. Quote

Less than 15 overs full refund. More than 30 no refund. One more ball would have tipped it. I bet Lancs CC/ECB were gutted they didn’t get one more ball in Actually had a great day. Based ourselves in Prestwich from 11am so we had both options of Salford and Old Trafford. We were fully set for the Wanderers game until the unexpected news of play coming through, so took the gamble and hot footed to the cricket. Hope the same unexpected news comes through again today, but it doesn’t look good. Not been any rain for the last half hour or so. Fingers crossed it stays that way for long enough to get a decent stint of play. Quote

Spider Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Jo Root asking why they can’t play until 10pm in these situations I can’t think of a single reason to disagree. A decider at the oval would be good for absolutely everyone involved with the sport. Even the Aussies. Quote

Even the Aussies. 100% Interest and appetite for test cricket in this country has never been as high. Why the powers that be can’t move with the times and technology to ensure the maximum amount of cricket is played in a day is quite frankly ridiculous. So many things that should be being considered; early starts, later finishes, run punishments for slow over rates, pink ball when light is poor, flexible times/duration for lunch/tea breaks. Stop being so preventative- give the fans and players what they want - more cricket, more entertainment. It will only help the game grow even more. Quote

The revenue it would generate makes it a no brainer. The Ashes is unique in world sport. It deserves every chance to produce results Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Hope they play, but this band of rain is due to drop downwards later this evening according to the weather map last night. Seems that Aggers reckons its coming sooner. Quote

I was exactly of that opinion until yesterday Id never seen Mark Wood bowling live until yesterday. Fuck me that boy is fast. Totally understood why they had to take the quicks off yesterday and resort to spin. Despite the lights it was very gloomy Quote

Imagine how many times we'd get to see that Rob and Romesh advert on Sky if they played on till then. Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 It's never a good sign when they resort to showing replays of previous matches on the telly, is it? Quote
Spider Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 This is set for the day. Losing like this is just fucking rubbish Quote
globaldiver Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 2 1/2 year until the next series, we’ll be losing many current favourites. I hope we can go, always wanted to take in the full tour. Quote
BobyBrno Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Been off this for over a week. 5 days away then 5 days at OT. Pity the weather determined the result but that’s cricket. Was at Lords this time last year and the weather spoilt our day there as well. It happens. The SCG  loses more days to the weather than OT. It’s been a great five days though one way or another. Pity it’ll be a few years before another Ashes Test at OT. Was in the members lounge a lot of the time. Didn’t see any drunks from Horwich though.😉 Quote
