I'm beginning to think Evatt may be becoming a lucky manager with the 2 last minute winners and being handed - needlessly - a one man advantage in the last 2 games. I'll take a lucky manager as long as he's lucky when it really matters.

Brings me onto the Wigan game. I've convinced myself that either

a) it's the game when - against the odds (and contrary evidence) - it all suddenly clicks. We play well and beat them. Despite them being a poor side in the bottom half, our recent record and local pride make it special, and we start a winning run with good performances. For the record, this is not the same as beating relegation fodder whilst playing like a bunch of disinterested strangers which we've been doing recently.

b) the last minute winners and needless red cards has convinced Sharon to give him a bit more time just as she was about to pull the trigger, which turns out to be the only scenario known to man where Wigan come to our place a dick us for the third time in a row.

Hoping for a, dreading it might be b.

Honest question, do you really believe he can take us up this season?

Honest answer. I’ll stay consistent with what I’ve said since the Huddersfield game.

We’ll finish somewhere between 4th and 8th, with some good runs and some unexpected defeats.

I don’t think we’ll go up if we’re in the play offs.

Me neither, but, I suppose it's that old statement: if you win when you play badly...

As ever though, we have to break that ceiling and start taking 3 points off some of those towards the top.

Not a fucking chance in hell, we’ve been shite all season and the luck will run out. Evatts on borrowed time and he knows it. I just hope Sharron pulls the trigger before the end of January and puts us out of our misery.

We’ve been found out and the football is dire and boring to watch for 70-80 mins of every game.

I ask as I know people want to stick with him but first I heard anyone thinks we will go up. To be fair for clarity he said he doesn’t believe in it so now it’s no one again😂.

I’ve no more to add on the should he stay argument as he’s going nowhere regardless how we do so it’s become futile thinking otherwise. I think it will be beyond this season as well.

I think you misinterpreted what I said in my initial post. I wasn’t saying I think he’ll  get us up. Simply that it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that it could happen. I’ll stick with 4th to 8th but we ‘could’ win the play offs.

No I understood that and that’s why I asked the question. I really think it is beyond possible.

here's another

12 home games in all competition this season

for all the talk of needing to start quick, we've scored in the first half twice

keeps happening, we start great, look threatening, don't score, and soon go stale

Good stat, last season in comparison we scored in the 1st half FIFTEEN times in our 1st 17 games by early December (if I've counted right).

I don't care BTW, its about the score at 90+ minutes, and this season we've won 3 games by scoring late winners at home (2 very very late), which didn't happen at all last season.

Good finish, well done Dion!

Unfortunately it doesn't count as I wasn't there (in hospital).

1st home league game missed this century, and what happens, Dion scores at home from open play 😆

It feels to me like there is more than normal riding on this Wigan game.
Can Evatt motivate our seemingly tame lads to get a result in the pie heads cup final game?
If I was in a position to be making analysis of Evatt, I’d certainly be using this game as a marker.
Personally I’ve circled that as his last for us unless he seemingly creates a miracle for Christmas.

Yep.

More pointless than the signing of Scott Arfield?

Surely not.
