My instinct is that we'll win fairly comfortably v Cambridge, based mainly on how bad they are.  But then I recall Shrewsbury when we gifted them a 2 goal start and had to play great 2nd half to get a point.

If we do go a goal down this time its not going to be a family friendly atmosphere.  But I'm expecting a "reaction" type of game where IE sees these 2 home games as his last chance, realistically.  A dull, flat win by 1 or 2 with virtually no fan celebrations.

Agree, can see a nondescript win in another mixed-up atmosphere, maybe a draw v Charlton, then a duffing at Hudds, another three games ticked off and still stumbling along in 9th or 10th.

As much as it will be quiet against Charlton, if we're losing at home to them there will be plenty of grumbles and probably negative chants, 10k is a plenty big enough crowd for enough to be heard.

Shrewsbury away in a month could go either way, we often win there, but if we lose that's a potential powderkeg in a small ground.

Fair point and sometimes the smaller crowds get rid of the fairweather fans and leave more of the hardcore there, so it could start to turn.

Although Charlton, a bit like Reading, are the kind of team that will try to have nice football match with us, so I can see us winning anyway in a 4-3 or something ridiculous.

That sort of game last year, madcap 3-3 draw

We can but hope.

Won't be saying that when they beat us in the play off final in the last minute with a 347 pass move finished off by their star striker Kachunga followed by him running to our end waving his cock around singing Bolton get battered

They still wouldn't forgive him given his track record with the murderers.

Can somebody please explain this one to me?

You are allowed 7 substitutes

You know in advance what changes you are going to make and at what time in the game.

So why..... Unless you are delusional enough to think of yourself as a visionary...... Would you constantly refuse to have a substitute keeper on the bench??!!!

It may never cost us but given his game plan is carved in stone why would you ever take the risk?

Precisely what I said a week or two back.

Makes no sense.

5 from 6 for normally (other clubs) plus a keeper.

5 from 7 for us, but is actually 3 from 5, as 2 guaranteed strikers swapped.

If we had a keeper, it would still be 3 from 4, which ought to be enough.

You’re delusional 😉

Evatt saying the players are with him and they are going to double down on his approach and style of play god help us!

But its the style of play that got us promoted, won a cup at Wembley and got us to a play off final. Its down to the manager and players to refind that system and form .

Yes but he plays a different formation now than last season and it just doesn’t work.

Maybe if he goes back to his system and approach from last season we may see improvement only time will tell.

Pretty sure we changed to 4231 when we got promoted (from League 2!), we won a cup which includes U21s and is mostly played in front of 1 man and his dog and it has been used as a reason from the opposing manager as to why we actually lost that play off final.

It’s been found out and we no longer have the players to play it (ie decent wingbacks). If we double down on it then we’re even more screwed.

Is the system we play now, not the "plan b" that we didn't have last season and everyone was crying out for...

I respect there is some logic in your point, but conversely that system has kept us in this division.

How many other promoted teams, over say the last 5 years, have played like us?? Bet there's not many.

So while there has undoubtedly been some success, and there should be as we have good players, it hasn't hit the heights it should have done and allowed us to meet our goal of promotion.

I bet when we went up, it wasn't envisaged spending a min of 5 years in the 3rd division. So by any metrics Evatt is now underachieving I would suggest, and his philosophy is also being ridiculed which helps no one.

Maybe I'm being thick but I've just read the article and see nothing that says Evatt or anyone is going to 'double down' on the approach?

He just says we are going to stick to our DNA and the players are behind him.

Have I missed a bit?!

Noone was crying out for this plan B.

And most people weren't saying abandon plan A. We do not pass the ball around to tyre the opposition and then play intelligent short quick passes forward like we used to do.

We're now a plodding at the back, hoofball team most of the time in a new formation that leaves us wide open.

People wanted to see an alternative option for times when the opposition countered the 532 by letting Santos have the ball and pressing everyone else (happened a lot in the second half of the season). The plan B needed to be an option where we could effectively get the ball forward quicker, not concede the middle of the pitch and start hoofing it to players who can't head or hold up the ball.
