But it looks like it will fall into one of those category’s where folk from the outside consider it unfair, ungrateful, surprising, ruthless, considering the success (relative) he’s had. Whereas I expect there will be Coventry fans who tell a different story. It’s seems to be way these days, especially with managers who have made progress. I suspect we’d get similar external viewpoint if we sacked Evatt before Christmas while challenging for promotion. Agree. I've seen many fans from other clubs on other forums/twitter etc. look at Evatt's record with us and are surprised that many dislike him so much. Quote

No comparison can be made with if we got rid of IE (unless we were in top 2 at the time obviously). The first 5 responses on here are: "Disgrace, Shit, WTF, Really really disappointed, Unbelievable" followed by "WTF, Wow, Hope these bunch of wet lettuce weak minded players are happy now, Absolutely devastated" etc - not that I'm reading any more, maybe later comments will be different! OFFICIAL: Mark Robins has been sacked | Sky Blues Talk True that seems to be consensus. But there’s also the odd comment like this. “It will hurt for a while, but this is for the best. As the statement says and taking emotion out of it, the performanc have simply not been good enough. 8 defeats in 11 at home. Dreadful. Only a handful on wins since last spring.” I didn’t know their form was that bad. Hence the comment that the perception from the outside can sometimes not reflect the “true” picture. There could be a theoretical situation where we get a few unconvincing draws/wins hanging around the play-offs keeping our “good form” going. Then we lose to Wigan. As a fan base we see the reasons why Evatt should go, whereas the external view is one of where he’s brought us from, the 9th/5th/3rd progression, still being in contention for promotion, etc. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 There doesn't seem to be much support for the decision here, either internally or externally Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I've read that the board replaced his assistant manager in the summer with their own appointment That can't have gone down well Quote

Just a few fans who think it’s for the best considering their form and aspirations. Quote

I'd just say a couple of things on Robins in particular, in comparison to 95% of other managers going through a "bad run" (and yes they've had some poor home defeats that surprised me) - 1. Surely some managers get cut some slack when they've proved themselves like he has over a long period of time 2. of those "8 home defeats/handfull of wins since spring", many were in April/May when it was all about the FA Cup semi and all the emotion/energy associated with the highs and lows of that period. If they are judging him on losing games around that time, more the fool them. But this decision will be good news for another club a few months down the line, IMO. Quote

I agree pretty much with all of that. It seems harsh and the majority of fans seem to agree 👍 Quote
Whitesince63 Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Well hopefully he’ll get a good pay off, have a break and come back in January ready for another challenge with one of the many clubs I’m sure will be after him. Quote
gonzo Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Does sound a bit harsh. Watched them the other week when they came from 2 down to win. They looked good. Then they beat boro away 3 nil. Quote
Popular Post DazBob Posted November 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2024 Fuck him. He's massively responsible for Man U dominating football for so long. I have no sympathy. Quote

ZiggyStardust Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 (edited) Evatt is now either the longest* , or second longest reigning EFL manager. * Weaver at Harrogate has been there longer, but they only became a league club later in the same year that Evatt was appointed. Dr. Feelgood Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 A Coventry supporter friend of mine said similar ..... "I'm shocked but not all together surprised. He lost his right-hand man in the summer and the board brought in 2 new men to work with him, one of whom is now interim manager. It's a great shame. Everyone I've spoken to thinks it was unnecessary and there’sbeen no clamour for his head." Quote
