The Managerial Roundabout

Shrewsbury potting Cotterill is an odd one,

Spurs possibly seeking a new manager around Christmas, not sure how he will do.

Gerrard to Leeds is rumoured.

Uri Geller to Wigan?

I know he’s not a manager but Standard Liege fans seem gutted we’ve got Fergal Harkin to the extent that some are saying he saved them from relegation despite having no budget. Sounds positive.

  • Are you serious? The guy brought us some fucking brilliant moments  that we’ll never forget. Yeah, it didn’t end up great but ffs.

Why do owners never learn? Ditch a proven, successful manager for a dud one.

Coventry, Plymouth and Leicester have all fallen into the celebrity ex player management trap. It’s certainly a gamble but when you have tried and tested managers like Robins and Cooper I think it is unwise. Birmingham did it last season and got relegated.

That's a mental appointment.

Meanwhile Cardiff or Hull might now be looking to Robins to take over there.

I presume that by celebrity, you mean a former high profile player.

I know he didn't have a long time at the crumbling theatre, but he did pretty well.

He has also had a short period of management previously- dunno if he was any good though.

Celebrity in the same way Rooney is - no disrespect to either of them but their name has got them jobs, not their managerial record.

Doing "pretty well" was like our regular unbeaten runs - flat track bullies, all his games were at home, mostly v Leicester!

I noticed he scored for Jeff Stelling's Hartlepool the other night

Player manager at Bolton then

Three continental managers/coaches I have been an admirer of for a few seasons now. One just joined the DMB's. Another joined the bin dipping smackrats when Klippety left.

That just leaves Peter Bosz to come to the PL. Could be at Spurs when Levy and the fans get tired of 'attractive football' without any silverware to show for it.

I had to google who he managed

turns out it's a team above us

and that made me realise I pretty much don't know who manages most teams in L1

I just checked and I knew 10

don't even know who's Brum is

didn't know Gareth Ainsworth was now at Shrewsbury either

Pub league manager

And to think folk thought they were contenders last season

I like Ange. I like his attacking instinct. I enjoy watching them.

I, however, feel no impact from their routine failings. But I'd not argue if those were our failings ... or would I ?

Postecoglu is just Kevin Keegan with an Aussie accent.

Great football to watch and will win stuff in Scotland and on the continent, but he'll never win a thing in England.

Football and modern day fans make me laugh, all the bollocks about winning but playing a certain way, having a style or a brand (yes, Evatt's guilty as charged). Spurs fans were all over Ange ball for 10 games then cooled on it, dogs abuse now they've gone back to being more Spursy than ever.

Modern game has so gone up it's own arse with brands and philosophies, trying to get 30-odd year old muck and nettles defenders like Craig Dawson to tip tap about at the back, that managers or coaches that think defending and clean sheets are good things are dinosaurs, reduced to punditry or co-comms.

For a bit of mischief I'd like a bloke to go into one of these clubs, give them all the big presentation about entertaining style then do the opposite, grind out 1-0s and 0-0s, go on an unbeaten run and have their club in the title mix. The head scratching would be fun to see.

They were all over it because they were 3rd in the table.  Can't blame them for that.

Also can't blame them now for being pissed off that their manager stubbornly refuses to change anything.

Ange's tactics have been well and truly sussed and his refusal to adapt and/or change is why he'll be sacked before the end of the season.

He'll then go to somewhere like Portugal and piss the league.
