Yeah was just over 900 late last week so should be comfortably over 1,000 👍

We’re staying near the ground but hoping to have enough time to go in to the centre (went straight to the ground last time and it doesn’t feel quite right doing that)

dont have enough time to go into the centre annoyingly, looks like there are plenty of good pubs

there is a spoons 20/30 minutes  walk from the ground so will probably end up going there, or the geroge Inn

Advanced party arrived in the city of dreaming spires, dreaming of another Whites win.  Grey and cold at the moment but improving.  Bright day tomorrow but hopefully not too cold to threaten the match - I don't think it has undersoil heating.

Can confirm The George is a good shout, a short walk through the Littlemore estate and through a little tunnel.  Think you can stay on the car park if you are drinking in there.

It's a taxi job from the centre

Other year we did it but got out early and walked it because of the traffic

Buses back into the centre afterwards were a nightmare

We were waiting at the bus stop last season with all the masses when a fellow Wanderer flagged down a passing black cab. 4 of us jumped in with him and through a series of turns through that estate, we bypassed all the queuing traffic and were back in the city centre in no time.  There's some great olde worlde pubs around the uni buildings.

Bus in to the centre at 3ish and back out at 6ish to be on the safe side I reckon. Short stroll across the car park to hotel after the game 😊

Went into the centre once when my missus was at uni.

Can't remember pub names, but there was one that specialised in whisky- shit loads of them lined up.

We lost at home to Wigan the day after. 0-1 Steve Johnson scored for them.

They were the reverse fixtures from the Xmas period, where we'd won 1-0 at Wigan (Chandler) in our first ever game there and then beat Oxford 1-0 the day after at Burnden (Chandler again)

Yes, thanks for the correction.  I was at all 4 of those games, very strange to go to games on consecutive days twice in one season, not sure I could be arsed now!  I was getting it mixed up with the season after when we won 1-0 v Wigan at home, and again Chandler scored (a pen).   We played them away Boxing Day 84 as well as 83, another 1-0 game (lost this time).

Both those Wigan away games were early kick offs, reasonably uncommon in those days. I think Wigan missed a pen in our 0-1 win. The 1-0 home win v Oxford was a great performance. Oxford were top of the league and would be champions by May. A great Burnden atmosphere that day.

I think the last time we played games on consecutive days was in 93/4, a decade later. Two 0-0 draws at home to Sunderland and then away at Pompey. I was at both - the trip to Pompey the day got off to a tricky start with snow in Cheshire making the M6 very treacherous. Miraculously cleared and on we want. It was one of Gary Parkinson's few appearances for us that day at Fratton Park. Anyway - a proper tangent is that!

Saw the team coach on the M6 this afternoon. Pretty sure Nlundulu was still running up and down the aisle celebrating his goal.

anyway.

JDB is like Chris Waddle, looks fucked after 2 minutes but doubt he is.

I'm more than happy to let Evatt make the call as to who plays. He'll get some wrong but his record suggests he has half an idea of what's right

Reminds me of the first time I saw Chris waddle play live. At Burnden park in a cup match 91-92 maybe when they had to wear our away kit. He looked 100% fucked by 55 minutes and I laughed at him , his lolloping style and how much his legs had gone.  Then somebody hoofs a 60 yard ball down the left wing and he just put on the burners , trapped it, turned inside and put a shot over the bar from 20 yeards cos no-one else was up with him yet.

As he was jogging back I swear he just winked at me with me mouth agape at the speed he just raced on to that pass. Like " I could do this all day son" .

They did.  I think, if I'm not mistaken, that it was ex Wanderer Steve Taylor who missed it too.

If you can get to it try the old bookbinders in Jericho. Lovely pub.

Shame the Eagle and Child is still shut I think.

Excited for tonight and hopes are up which means we probably lose, COYW keep the run going

Enjoy girls & boys.

Would be happy with a draw.

And awaaaay......there's fuck all near the ground but the centre of Oxford is well worth a visit, then 3A (i think ) bus to the ground & hopefully another win......a draw wouldn't be the end of the world though.

Thought the centre was ok myself plenty to go at

L8 whites setting off at 11:43 with a pit stop in reading to dump bags etc.

hopefully the buses back to the center don’t take too long tonight

iFollow for me

feels like a massive game

So. 59% didn't.

Mmmm.

Wouldn't expect 41% to express that view to be honest. A team doing very well, and still 3rd in the table, at home- to have over 40% saying they will lose is high.
