Burton (H)

Interim manager Gary Mills has done a good job in the four games he's been in charge of Burton amassing 7 points with (surprise?) wins over Blackpool and Shrewsbury following a draw with Charlton after being battered by Oxford in his first game That's put them clear of relegation trouble for now.

As if we didn't know what to expect from Burton, I reckon we can double down on that now Mills has taken over as he's taken a struggling team and "gone back to basics".

Good article here on how he's going about turning the Brewers season around - a decent guide to their game plan - (don't faff about at the back - get it forward to Kamwa, Baah and Lubala to have a run at every opportunity and defend en masse when out of possession, with Brayford the anchor)

We should have enough to dominate possession and win - just need to keep an eye out for getting mugged on the break.

Tripe. Vic held it pretty well. Some good little bits of interplay between the strikers, but didn't quite pay off. Vic also ran his bollocks off, continually making runs into the channels, e

Adult & junior in ESL going

3-0 Vic x2 and Charles

Haven’t felt this confident going into a game since Bristol Rovers 🥴

I hope we don’t underestimate them and look complacent. The atmosphere will likely be shite as always on NYD and weather crap - any win will do before our mini-break from the league.

Expect Forester in Jones and Vic in for JDB. Even though he’s rotated the midfield a lot, I don’t think he’ll rest Dempsey as he’s just getting up to speed after a while off, Sheehan has just had a game out and is crucial at home to a shit team and he just doesn’t rest GT (who would be the only one possibly for Maghoma just due to workload).

Up the 2024 whites.

6-0

I really hope we give this team a much overdue spanking and never play them again.

I think this might be the toughest of four easy on paper/tough in reality festive fixtures.

Any win will do.

They'll probably be tough to break down so it's likely to be a familiar problem. John Brayford is back for them and he's a CB that reminds me of Tarkowski - blocks everything and doesn't mess about so we'll need a bit of fancy footwork to get around him.

I'm still puzzling over how Dion scored the first goal last night - great ball control and a deadly accurate shot in the corner - some of that will come in very handy against what I imagine will be very resolute defending - but I've a feeling JDB will do the business for us.

Sheehan took a bit of a kicking last night, may start on the bench.

Takes a kicking most games, it should be taken as a compliment.

Should be a win to finish a fantastic Christmas period.

Despite our history with Burton anything less than 3 points would be disappointing.

Lets not underestimate these chaps as we can/do lose these types of games.

This

Another 1-0 will do me

They are very poor away.

2-0.

Given the clamour for Stockton in the summer, he's been dreadful for them. Bullet dodged.

Obviously now he'll score a hattrick on Monday.

I’ve seen an angle from behind the goal. It took a deflection off their defender, which wrong footed their keeper.

Right and left centre backs?

Toal and the left sided Iredale, if fit

Or Forrester straight in for Jones

Either way, these are the games we miss Gethin

For me, for this one id have option 1

Tougher games, Forrester and Toal, but dunno who gets left side, probably Toal as hes used to it

Any win will do and would round off a terrific festive period. Don’t expect a classic.

See there’s more top 6 head to heads Monday and cup weekend a few teams play so it’s so imperative we don’t drop points

we crack them early I can see a few goals going in

Forrester on the left for me.

Looked more comfortable on the ball that side v Orient than Toal does.

Like Toal as a defender but managers have sussed he's the weak link on the ball - he's been targeted on the press by strong teams(eg Pompey) and allowed the ball by teams willing to stand off (first 20 mins v Exeter before Maghoma and GT swapped sides).

Expecting a high level of shithousery from Burton , timewasting par excellence, might need some patience & we know our crowd sometimes don’t help with their hoof it up comments.

Any win please , maybe a game for Maghoma ?
