Today was shit. We struggled well before we went down to 10. If we concede them first 2 goals without santos then everyone would be saying we don’t concede them with santos there, yet here we are conc

FWIW I thought Santos' challenge was unnecessary and stupid and I'd be surprised if the red is overturned.

While I would also be surprised I cant see how they will justify not overturning it

possible we could play these over 2 legs in the playoffs

I was in a bad way yesterday, great day out bar the result

Absolutely this. A couple of hours of football to break up a decent drinking session. Tuesday night won’t get that.

I’m absolutely determined to have a few pints before the game to numb the pain a little bit.

Interpretation of whether or not he could have actually got the ball without going through the lad I suppose. I reckon he could just about have got it, but not sure they'll see it that way. Also not sure if it was an obvious scoring opportunity given the angle and Santos' presence, but we'll see.

It was absolutely an attempt to play the ball. The Blackpool player wasn’t even in the picture when Santos started his slide but was smart enough to just get himself in the way and take the contact.

I thought so too but it's not up to me to decide unfortunately.

... apart from him leaving the ground to tackle a guy from behind and taking a foot/ankle ?

That's quite separate from whether he needed to tackle him at all.

if the referee views it as a genuine attempt to get the ball, then its not a red card

Whenever you're stretching for the ball like he did, there is inevitably a short period of time where both feet are off the ground.

It was clearly a stretch for the ball though, and not a dangerous lunge, where man or ball are equally targeted.

His right leg though does follow through- as it inevitably would- it looks worse.

When will we find out? Is it the same rule that’s currently allowing Evatt to be on the touchline - I.e if you’ve appealed and not yet had a decision then you’re free to play?

(How long does it take to confirm Evatt’s charge by the way!!? Fucking useless the lot of them)

Evatt’s charge is being adjudged on Wednesday.

By Paul Warne, James MacLean and Dave Whelan's lad.

You'd hope that would be the case

So if we appeal and lets say he can't play till the hearing, misses out on Wigan and we win the appeal then he's still been banned effectively

Yeah good point. Doesn’t seem to be any mention of it anywhere in terms of timings so I suppose it’ll just be a case of let’s see who’s on the team sheet.

If he is playing then I hope he’s looking a bit sharper than on Saturday!

The appeal was being heard/reviewed this afternoon

Unless he views it as dangerous. He jumped in, both feet were off the ground.

The referee's decision was red. One must assume he didn't view it as innocent. No way is any panel going to overturn it.

That's more or less where I am

Only my opinion but watching that challenge in normal time, if that's deemed serious foul play or dangerous, I give up.  May as well give every foul that's a genuine attempt to play the ball as a sending off.  I'm staggered about the whole thing, I must be watching a different challenge.

If only we'd had that ref (in our favour) for the Wigan home game, we would have been playing v 10 men for the last 85 minutes.

@gonzo hope lads had a good day at school- i'd know i'd be bricking it. mad how divisive a game can be amongst adults let alone kids

Thank feck. I was thinking I'd been living in a parallel universe reading some interpretations on here.

As I saw it, in real time at the game, Santos had to make the challenge. I could see it was tight whether he got there first. Based on the previous hours play, I also knew if the ref was coming down either side of a 50/50 decision, he was going their way. But a sending off too? Get to feck.
