When Rioch came to Bolton in 1992 we won three of our first give games then drew 1 and lost 5 of the next six. A very similar thing happened when Big Sam arrived in 1999. It is very early days and SS

It’s a sad state of affairs really because Barnsley is a good drink and the ground always buzzes when that away ends full.

Peterborough have been allocated 1500 at Oxford so presume all clubs will go to the minimum

Players don’t appear to have a strong enough mentality to win these big away games.

A draw should be enough mind.

Just been looking - won one of our last 8 away.

Is that not pretty much the maximum too though? Also aligns to what posh can give in the old Stand down the side? Seems by default that they’ve agreed the best number they can for both clubs

Could be right sure we took around 2k season before last, probably works for them two

No confidence at all in these playoffs

Need to find every little advantage, second leg goes to penalties last thing we need is 5k away fans behind the goal the penalties are taken.

I could be wrong but IMO there's no way Barnsley are bringing more than 3k on a Tuesday night, especially when its on TV.

Do any of the ITK types on here know how many away season tickets were sold?

As much as I’d love us too, I don’t think we’re selling out our home tie with a 27.5k full house on a Tuesday night.

And I can’t see Barnsley selling more than 3k.

An 18/19 big crowd at Barnsley with 5k whites and a 24/25k home tie with 3k Barnsley and us on 4 sides, seems sensible, gives us an edge and lets everyone who wants to see the game attend.

21,357 home fans last season, plus 2,093 Barnsley.  But that was 1st leg and on a Saturday.  Ticket prices are the same so it will be interesting to compare how many turn out on a school night (# attendance nonce).

One consistency from last year is I won't be there, the only "league" games I've missed at home this century are the 2 play offs v Barnsley, coz of holidays.

We should give Barnsley 2k and stick ‘em in the corner of the South/West  upper.

I’d like to see Dempsey play in the semis, GT has been shite for weeks.

A central mid 3 of Dempsey, Sheehan, Maghoma.

Your probably right, but wouldn’t be giving them the option just incase

The absolute most I would give them is the upper tier. Leave the lower tier to be all Bolton. At £20 per ticket we will easily sell enough to fill all the lower tiers. Keep them as far away from pitch as possible.

No way we get the full end at theirs (although we did not sell out there in the league which was bizarre given numbers we have taken most places this year) .

Coming on the back of the mood sapping defeats at Blackpool & Wigan, and the fact that it was again a night match, made the numbers that went decent.  I was more surprised we didn't sell out on a Saturday at Port Vale even though their away end is smaller than in previous years.

Where did you see this and what is the allocation?

Barnsley website £20  (£15 for likes of you Steejay & casino😀)

Decent pricing but with it being short turn around they need as many as possible in, think 2nd leg will be £25

Realistically it was never going to be more than that. I think they’d struggle to sell more than that for our place and allows us to put them in the top tier and utilise the bottom for home fans if required

Key to get our tickets max £20 and get it filled.

Who is gonna make up the Baxter is injured rumour this year then?😂

Get the home tickets on sale ASAP as low priced as possible to fill the place and only give them half the top tier

I'll drip feed information to @radcliffe white

It’s bollocks, it really is.

I get why and I understand the barriers/limitations/safety etc.

But those responsible for making this decision have bottled it. Most weeks those making football decisions for big games/crowds, can find ways to overcome these barriers, to have grounds full and allow the maximum number of people to watch a game safely.

To have the scenario where there will be gaps in both grounds, when, especially for the Barnsley leg, there will be people disappointed they can’t go and will be seeing empty seats on TV is fucking stupid.

It’s not like it’s comparable to the Portsmouth game, we sold the large majority of the south seats, justifying the decision. Barnsley will leave the majority of that stand empty again!

Even if we offered them the entire south stand there is no way they'd bring more than 2500 on Tuesday. A lot of them already said they're not bothering with the home leg, we were never ever getting more than the bottom line allocatioun for this one.

It really is a shambles.
