Mates have been winding me up about demanding Watkins for Kane at HT. Had to remind them that I've said that every game we've played

Chances of Watkins starting against Spain? Slim to none.

Well, there you go.

First half we were truly fantastic.

Second less so but great late strike.

That will do nicely, well played, especially first half. Watkins is a bone fide goalscorer as well as a creator.

Wierd similarity to our last semi final win, Denmark at Wembley. 

Goal down early on. Very iffy penalty. Kane goal.  Late winner. 2-1 win. Neil Diamond.

He's no "target man" but he is a genuine workhorse of a striker making run after run after run, splits the defenders and gets behind the defence - and with England's midfield he's ideal when Kane is struggling to hold it up. As he has been throughout the tournament.

But they always come out with "we've spoken about this earlier" or similar to cover themselves.

We were one minute from being dumped out by Slovakia and up until that moment were awful. Credit to Southgate & the boys since then, but the criticism was understandable.

Was exactly like a goal you'd see him score for Villa in the PL, how many years - decades - have we wished to see a player replicate something you see them do week in week out at their club for England, it was absolutely clinical

Had £80 flights in the basket about a year ago and decided not to commit, fuck!

Only consolation is I know the prices for match tickets are well beyond my means, and the queues for the fanzone when we were there earlier in the tournament were already ridiculous even for standard group games. Probably looking at a couple of hours queuing at best.

So if no match ticket and no fanzone, it doesn't leave much else worth doing. That's how I'm justifying not completely destroying my savings and staying home anyway 😀
