There's progression then there's winning stuff.

He's progressed us massively from where we were, just hasn't exhibited the requirements to get us over the line....yet.

Winning most matches, winning group stages, winning quarter finals and winning a semi final is apparently not winning although I have to admit it felt like winning at the time.

Folk forget that England under Southgate have a better win percentage against World top ten opposition than Germany, Italy, Holland, Croatia and Portugal in the same period.

Not bad for a loser.

Apart from 66, no manager of England has won anything neither- on that basis, Southgate's record stands up.

I do back Southgate but did did think the second half against Italy needed a bit of more tactical nouse. It was a huge opportunity missed, and yes the players do have to take some responsibility for that as well.
