He's the one player out there dragging the team through and showing some guts so I can't criticise him, but he needs to have someone older with a bit of perspective telling him "we've underperformed and the fans are miffed, don't take it personally"

For me it’s not that I care about “how” we play. If we play controlled boring football and we win every game 1-0 then that’s fine by me. My problem is that I don’t think we’re playing anything like well enough to go on and challenge the better teams.

Spain have a clear tactical plan. All the players are playing in their best positions, the positions they play for their clubs. Full backs overlap constantly allowing space for their wingers to wreak havoc.

There's no fucking lamine yamal thrown in at left back with 20 minutes go out of desperation. Amazing players allowed to be at their best in a well oiled machine.

Sometimes tonight it was like watching us this season, loads of possession, shot shy, no plan B and not much of a plan A .

Every possibility. Slow starters often grow into these tournaments whilst fast starters have often been prone to a shock defeat. Germany v Spain is going to be some game. Would be a worthy final that.
