deeane Koontz Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 The media, pundits and fans have been quite fair on the whole considering the performances they've served up. If players are bitching because of a bit of just criticism they need to stop being massive minges. I'll bet my house most of them have been doomscrolling social media and watching m0ngy football YouTubers in their downtime. Quote

But the post match interviews last night led me to believe there is something very wrong in the squad. Southgate calling out Toney because apparently he was unhappy about being brought on when he was. Why would he volunteer that himself? Just strange He hasn't "called him out" you sensitive fanny 😂 Quote
L/H White Posted July 1, 2024 Author Posted July 1, 2024 Gareth has now won more knockout games in major tournaments than every other England manager since 1966 combined. We must've had a load of fucking woke managers over the years Quote

barrycowdrill Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 (edited) This squad we have now has been put together on the waves of positivity. Yep there have been lows in terms of results but generally speaking there has never really been any scrutiny or criticism of them. That’s what they’re finding hard to take. But it’s all valid. Them coming out with responses in the media is bordering on petulance. All of them individually and collectively should be ramming those words down peoples throats with their performances. Instead those performances are reinforcing the criticism. they can all come out and say they haven’t performed as well as they’d like? Yet when anyone else does they’re out of order? They need to get a fucking grip. The backing they get no matter where they play, game after game shouldn’t be anywhere near up for debate and if they expect people to accept what’s occurred in the last 4 games where realistically we’ve done ok for a combined time of 15 minutes they’re fucking moon men Edited July 1, 2024 by barrycowdrill Quote
radcliffe white Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Shocking performance but ground a win out we certainly can’t play any worse that’s for sure, not many will agree but I still think we can make the final Quote

Mantra Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 My predicted line up (if trippier is injured and putting myself in Southgates head) . Pickford . Walker, Stones, Konsah . Trent, Saka . Rice . Mainoo Foden . Kane, Bellingham Or . Pickford; Walker, Stones, Konsah, Gomez; . Mainoo, Rice; . Saka, Bellingham, Foden; . Kane Unless Trippier is fit he’s going to have to change the back line significantly which makes me think he will switch to a back 5 for more solidity… Quote

Surely you don't genuinely believe Southgate has singled out Toney for criticism after bringing him on in the last minute? Quote

Booked after 3 (?) minutes with a card-happy ref. Quote

If you look at the rest player by player you'd pick ours on paper. Based on performances at this tournament you'd pick all the Spain team though. Fair enough, those were the 3 that sprung to mind immediately, plus Williams over Saka from what I've seen. Cucurella is very average TBH but still miles better than what we have even if everyone fit. I don't have enough knowledge of the rest of the Spain team apart from Morata, but they looked much sharper than us generally. When we've been starting with the likes of TAA and Gallagher in midfield, its hard to make a case for our individuals being better than most "top" sides. But I take your original point - they appear to make more of what they have than us and play as a unit with a co-ordinated plan. Quote

But either the Spain manager or the Germany manager are going to have "lost in Q-F" on their CV. We could grind out a 0-0 v the mighty Switzerland and win on pens and Southgate has another "got to a semi" on his CV. And the France or Belgium managers won't even get to have Q-F on their CV. So much down to the luck of the draw and Southgate just has the knack, I'd love to see what he'd do with the fixtures the other UK countries get landed with for qualifiers. Quote
