Agreed. That said, for whatever reason - perhaps his input into recruitment for example - he has limited options on the bench to change things in certain situations. But he does want to play a specific way and doesn't seem capable of doing anything radical like throwing a big CB up front when our midgets are struggling and there's no out ball.

If he stays it's going to be interesting to see what he can do to change things for the better with the squad at his disposal - and how "creative" he can be to do it.

Listening to Evatt's interview, listen to how many times he says 'me me me'. All about him. How hard it's been on him, how he has to take the blame as usual.

It is hard and it's tough to be a manager of a big football club. But there hasn't been a single apology to the 20,000+ Bolton fans who have turned up in the recent home games to watch complete drivel and apathy from HIS team. 

He will never find a job as good as he's had it here, near unconditional support from top to bottom.

We've had approximately a combined 71,000 supporters turn up to our last 3 home games and sold out away end at a 5:30 kick off down on London on the opening day. Yet all he has heard is a "cloud of negativity" since Wembley?

Even on Saturday after a horrendous start and after the calamity of last season, there was 22,500 there and all I could hear at the start of the game were Wanderers fans chanting his name.

If a couple of boos and tweets on social media is this 'big horrendous cloud of negativity'. Then obviously him and/or the team have not got the bottle or anywhere near to it to get promoted out of this hard league. 

Weak as piss. 

He needs a serious wake up call. He's lost most of us now, I think even more so his severe lack of awareness, his words against the fans and blamer of others just as much as the game itself has done it for him.

Time to go before it gets even worse.

So basically it's looking like Evatt is probably staying but with changes to his coaching staff and maybe captaincy? Talking about backroom staff, one of my mates played youth football with Peter Atherton, said he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch, but he also said he was as thick as fuck.

Imagine if the next official communique from the club is just "Reading 🏡. We go again 💪" next Saturday morning.

We've already had the lunacy of the attempt at a box midfield, which effectively left us with a front three pressing high and two utterly swamped central midfielders acres away

And on Saturday, we switched to a back four, but with a fucking diamond midfield, leaving us with no width whatsoever

Win a a few lose a few would be the hell hole. Enough to stay in a job not enough to take us anywhere.

I think it might be more likely we pick up a few good results - the run of fixtures over the next few matches is, on paper, about as easy as it gets - but then the problem reoccurs when we come up against the bigger hitters and we end up back in the situation we're in now only with more of the season eaten up

I simply cannot understand the logic behind keeping Evatt but sacking everyone else and changing Captain to a young lad that is already playing above his ability level. 

If we're following that train of thought, the staff (that Evatt hired) are the problem, they've done all the coaching, the tactical implementation, the player identification and signing. So, what is it that Ian actually does do?

One win in 8 home games with some very winnable fixtures.

Two wins in the last 10 away league games (1 of those thanks to the Orient keeper).

I think there's a misconception about how poor we've become.  Folk are still talking like we win games routinely, what's it based on?  Beating a decent team like Reading seems like a pipedream with this squad and manager.  I'd take mid table all day long, IMO we are in a bottom half battle if IE stays.
