Would of thought him owning shares would be a problem if he gets another job say a team in league one conflict of interest

There just isn’t a chance that those shares stay with him from the moment that he leaves the club, it can’t happen for him or us. It will all be in the initial contract what happens to them when he leaves and I imagine it will be - your decision (ie to a new club) you give them up with no compensation, our decision and we pay you out. @Whitesince63 - I do agree that it’ll be nothing like that value, it was just the most public amount that puts a value on a shareholding. I think the value or at least the mechanism for valuing them should we end up buying him out will have been written into the contract.

Anyway, enough of the financey stuff. Seems it’s done. Big big decisions for SB and team to make (especially with no CEO around!). It was the right call though, it couldn’t carry on.

Exactly that.

Wayne Rooney is currently a manager in the championship. Clubs will take a punt because, as we’re about to find out, there ain’t exactly a huge number of amazing managers out there.

Which is the VERY worrying aspect of it

Not read the thread but folk keep mentioning shares.

He will have signed an agreement on those that he has to sell them back to the club at market value when he leaves.

Its a non-story.

He's got Class B shares, the same as Neil Hart, there could well be a pre-agreed buy back value for them.

The shares will be valued at whatever they’re quoted at on the market when they’re sold and as with most if not all company share schemes when you leave the company you are required to sell them back to the company at current market value. Can’t see it being any different with IE and it certainly won’t be any barrier to him leaving so as Spider says it’s really a non issue.

Yep. I think time has come for change. But I’ve no idea who comes in.

Challinor probably best shout I’ve heard.

Shares a minor issue to sort. The £100k he owes the club a bigger problem. If he resigns he waives any right to a pay off and is liable for that debt. He’ll be looking to come to an agreement. But if the club want him to stay (possible) he’s in a tricky spot

The contract will cover matters like payment of notice etc. Te shares will be a contractual process also, they usually have a process for a 'good leaver' and a 'bad leaver' situation. Even the loan will have terms written in.

Unless one side plays hardball it's very easily dealt with. I guess a lot depends on if he's returned to building up fresh debts.

He looked broken the past couple of games ... since Oxford really. He can't go on.

Sad that it’s come to this and that it’s ending on a sour note. Always had a feeling it would end badly mind.

I still love the man personally. Just hope things end soon before the relationship between Evatt and the fans gets worse.

I think he’ll get a Championship gig if he sits out for a bit. Obviously times have changed, he was a much bigger name with experience of working with England and it was before my time, but Phil Neal got a job in the Prem off the back of a parallel record here. I’ll accept it’s probably a completely different scenario.

There’s just no coming back from last season’s failure and his time has run its course.

He’s had a good run in modern day terms. And while he may have failed in many fans’ eyes, you can’t deny his win record.

He needs a break and I think his enthusiasm for the game and managing has been taken away in the last year or so. A reset and fresh start elsewhere, and I see no reason why he can’t succeed elsewhere, higher up the pyramid. Lessons must be learnt though.

The majority of fans don’t want him to stay and most of the players have stopped playing for him. The club cannot ignore that and must reach a settlement.

Edit: Posted too soon.

Can't disagree with any of this. He just looks/sounds like a broken man and it's just a shame at this point. I still want him to succeed as he is quite a likeable manager.

When times are tough though, you go back to basics and I don't feel like he has that in his locker.

Thought it had been repaid. I’m sure last years book said something along those lines?

What a mess we've tangled ourselves up in with Evatt having shares in the club and debts owed to the club.

A manager should be an employee of the club, with no other financial complications.

The "mess" is pure speculation by people on here. I doubt any of it is accurate.

If anyone thinks IE having some worthless shares in the club would be a barrier to him being sacked they are on cloud cuckoo land.

Aye, done a great job in getting us back on an upward trajectory and we had the Wembley win and demonstrably improved each season

But also demonstrated that he doesn't have the big game mentality and he believes in his approach so much he's at a loss as to what to do in order for it to take us to the next level

He was then backed, tried something different in terms of formation and personnel and it's made us worse

So there's nowhere else to go really from here because you'd need a big overhaul in training this week in terms of approach and get the players onboard and I don't think that's happening

He's a beaten man who wouldn't have any belief in anything he tried to do differently

Well precisely. We are supposed to be a professional football club not an investment scheme
