Definitely not Lowe.  I work with a Preston fan and they absolutely despised his negative football.

It's odd is that. At Bury and Plymouth he gained quite a reputation for good, flowing, high scoring football. Whether that's cos he had Schumacher as his no2 at the time, I dunno.

It's my worry that we could get the next appointment wrong and why I'm still, just about,Evatt in for now.

  • Well if he's staying it really is last chance saloon. We may as well all get behind him.  It is what it is. Making the place a hell hole will just make the situation worse.

I've gone in depth elsewhere on why he has to go. But to be honest for me personally, I want him gone for arguably my own biggest reason... I'm just bored of it. We got battered by frigging

Second that he was nothing without Schumacher....Scubala is a great shout especially if he can bring Ehrahon with him in January

If we mess up against Peterborough or Stevenage, that's it for me with Evatt. If we win those games and play well then I'll reassess

I'd then need to be seeing something positive out of Stockport and Blackpool.

While wins would be the ultimate currency I'm also throwing in just seeing us play well/consistently/with identity.

But I'll be honest, this seems beyond all hope for these next games.

I'm thinking more than I ever have about a new regime invigorating us and getting more out of the squad.

Can play well and lose and tbh, I'm OK with that.

Sometimes the other team just plays better.

But I think we agree that we would like to see things like players in their right position and some cohesive pattern of play.

That actually should be a given to be frank.

Changing managers is always a risk but it is getting closer.

I agree Evatt will be kept in post until the playoffs are unattainable.

Also his potential successor will have to more or less dismantle the team which is not a quick process .
Personally I would snatch off any hand that offered the last place playoff position.Even that scenario is going to have to see a substantial improvement in performances & results.

I don’t think any dismantling is necessary just a few changes, the majority of the squad is more than capable at this level and it’s the way they’re used that’s the problem which hopefully a new man will change very quickly?

He goes tomorrow...

I wouldn't even know where to start with who to bring in.

An unheard of youth team assistant manager from a PL team

Neil seems an obvious good fit. One thing I will say is I reckon it will be an attractive job to many managers now, which it probably wasn’t 4 years ago.

Moyes scares me a bit.

If he could use his tactical experience to get a functional team out of the division fair enough.

Just looks like Gollum being slowly mummified.

I wonder if Nolan is happy not being a manager, but has gained plenty of experience now.

Youre right. There'd be loads of applicants. Neill would be my preference if Evatt were to go.

All the names suggested have sackings on their record

Didn’t Rioch and Sam have sackings on their record?

Aye.

Doesn't necessarily mean a bloke is a bad gaffer. There can be bad owners.

Everyone gains experience in whatever field(s) they're in, and finding a successful one who's never been sacked may be a tad difficult. Especially one with a good record.

Rioch was sacked at Millwall. Fat man at Blackpool.

Im not saying they didnt

Point is they were just as unpopular where they got sacked as evatt is now

Michael Scubala has never been sacked and is a modern day coach way ahead of Evatt

Schumacher ?

I'd take Schumacher straight away. And he isn't an unrealistic target

No one knows either way.

When Evatt was rumoured to be coming, it was all about his innovative, attractive football- Barrowcelona and all that.

An up and coming young manager.

He may indeed go on to have a great managerial career, if not here.

Scubala is doing well at the moment, but no one knows for sure. Always a gamble.

That said, I reckon most would be quite happy with him.

The season is long, he'd have to keep us slaloming all the way, keeping us on target, and not crashing off course.

Almost all managers get sacked at some point. We are crying out for a new plan though.

What's he done in the game to make you think that?
