The idea this in anyway is the fans fault is pretty out there.

It’s pantomime stuff these days.

Everyone trying to be the most outraged for social ticks.

It’s dogshit right now, and I’ve no issue with a change being made.

But it’s not happening. We know that deep down. So fuck it, let’s just adopt a siege mentality and give those clueless fuckers a lift.

I was about to write about that second goal we conceded and the problems in our team that caused it, but it feels pointless. We all know it’s fucked and it’s not just that goal, it’s fundamentally broken and you could pick apart almost all of the match for one reason or another.

I laughed when they scored and I didn’t jump up and celebrate when we did. That’s not me trying to prove a point, it was just my natural reaction which I think is really telling.

Apathy is a killer. I very nearly found a reason not to go today but even when I was there I couldn’t really be arsed with it, I was more interested in just how shit we could actually get.

He’s got to go, surely. I want the excitement back and it can be salvaged this season. We’re 3 points outside the play offs - if on Monday we sacked him then all of a sudden I’d be bang up for making a fight of it for the rest of the season (sheer hope from a change), whereas if he stays we may as well be 23 points away from them as I just have zero belief that we can go up with him in charge.

I think you've summed up my experience there. The goals we concede are actually funny how bad they are.

However, get a new manager in and it's game on given how close we are to the play offs, somehow. If he was sacked imagine the boost we'd get as fans. And I imagine the players would be similarly energised.

Time for the board to act to save the season.

I said that months ago and was called all the names under the sun on here.

Months later I still don't think anyone is thinking Santos in midfield is the answer 😄

He looks to me like he's lost a yard of pace and he's not putting the effort in anymore because he wants out at the end of the season.

I still want Evatt to succeed, sadly I think that’s unlikely now. However he’s been his own worst enemy…. A modicum of pragmatisim from Evatt and the outlook would be so much better.

I honestly can't understand why. He's a bellend.

They scored early doors so that didn’t help the atmosphere, the negativity was already in the air, however overall thought the crowd were relatively patient.

I just thought they were bored.  And because Cambridge were so poor, we were attacking for the entire 2nd half so there weren't many flashpoints to prompt a backlash.  IE got away lightly today because the opposition were incapable of looking for a 2nd half goal, its unlikely that will happen again this season except maybe Crawley.

Because we do?

Is nobody else playing?

We'd have to win 13-0 to catch Stockport, Reading would have to lose, Orient fail to win and Mansfield lose 1 of the next 2.   We are 9th with over half the season gone.  10th if Mansfield avoid defeat.

And its Huddersfield away next week, I've spotted a flaw in the 1 game from the play offs theory.

Top post fella! Agree 100% and the same muppets cheer Shithouse Kachunga. Just fuck off!

I didn't like the cheering off of those being subbed and never have, same with booing individual players. I actually had a bit of dread when I saw Vic ready to go on with Lolos, of the 'welcome' he'd get.

Against that, I'd no big issue with Kachunga, he did alright for us and today, good luck to him

Me too. That 1 occasion that he had the ball, then tripped over it, is classic Vic. Probably the very worst centre forward in our history.

Worthy, c'mon. Ian Moores ?

Agreed, there was a moment about 70-odd mins in when I noticed just how quiet it was, folk just watching what was a pretty mind numbing spell of limp attack v stoic defence. A better side than them would have been 2 up before we shook ourselves into a decent move, or would have picked a 3rd off in second half.

Having said that, and considering a lot had left, the chanting just before the equaliser was as loud as I can remember for many a year

Yes, and a few of them are playing us. It’s in our own hands. Every season in the majority of the leagues there’s a team that come from no where and reach the play offs, I have no doubt teams below us and their fans will be thinking they can reach the play offs .

3 points off the playoffs is the fact of where we are.

We could turn it around & be right back in it within a few games.

As much as I want Evatt gone, I still think he’s capable of a playoff push, or even getting us there. Just no way we could get past the final hurdle with him in charge.

Sadly it’s going to take a lot for our board to let him go.

It wasn't deliberate, I wasn't making a point, but that is the first time we've ever scored a significant goal (equaliser, taking the lead etc) and I haven't so much as clapped or stood up.

Just sat there observing.  If we'd scored a winner I would have cheered and enjoyed the moment, the 2-2 draw just felt like a total irrelevance.  As you say, apathy.

I was the same at home to Mansfield to be honest, didn’t even get out of my seat for our goals. Which is some achievement considering I’m on row Z so have been on my feet for 99% of our games for the last 10 years. Greeting goals with a shrug is a weird sensation but feels all too natural at the minute.

IE and the players have had more patience and support since August than they could possibly even dream of. Even now, I think the players are getting off VERY lightly whilst the focus is on Evatt.

I been saying the same for weeks.

I agree, every team down to Rotherham in 13th, that has a manager they have confidence in, will believe they can get to the play offs, and if they get there, have a fighting chance.  If we had any of the other managers, I'd think the same.

I think he's no confidence now and looks to unload the ball to the closest man.

Getting upset over a "We want Evatt out" chant is hardly the stuff of marines.

Think he wants out now tbh. I’d heard that he asked to be let go if an offer came in for him and that was around the time he stepped down/lost captaincy.

I know there’s clubs out there that’d take a chance on him on a free but it always strikes me as being very telling that no one higher up has come in for him before considering how good he supposedly is.

I watched every one of Moores home games in 82-83, not great of course, but no way was he anywhere near as bad as Vic.  Not saying he was any good, but he was stronger, faster, could head a ball, had a better shot and could lead the line.

And scored over 50 goals in the top 2 divs, he wasn't a L1 striker (at best) like Vic.  Scored for Spurs in a win at Man U, got a hat-trick for Spurs in that game when Colin Lee scored 4 and they won 9-0!  Not even a debate.

Simon Rudge had his moments (scored v Leeds in Div 2) but in reality wasn't a football league standard player, if it was now he wouldn't have played at all in the league, not a realistic comparison any more than Alex Smidzah or Faal, we're hardly going to count them as our worst ever strikers.

A bit 'Catch 22' isn't it. You're captain, needing leadership. It's taken from you ...you either sulk, proving you're not captain material ... or you rise above it, show your class and show why you were a proper captain.

He's not just lost that spirit but he's lost a yard & seems to be playing within himself.

As above, when we scored, i was happy but it wasnt a jump up limbs like usual,  more of a yay.. carry on..

maybe its the cold, maybe its the feeling of dread, I don't know..

It was a strange feeling

2 crap goals given away.

thought Schon, new Randell and Morley did ok.

sheehan and tutu did ok when they came on.

Cambridge haven’t won away all season and lost last 5

felt sorry for them at the end.

we deserved nothing.

thought crowd were well behaved for the most part given what was served up.

evatt going no where until the end of the season.

21 more games to endure……
