January 29, 20251 yr No knowledge on this, and this post could date very quickly BUT, if the job was to be Schumacher's, I'd expect it to have been announced by now. He's out of work, contractually pretty easy to sort I would expect, and he'd be keen to get cracking. There's the possibility it is him, or another out of work manager, but they're keeping it under wraps so they can work with the player recruitment team without the distraction of media obligations, etc. But I would have expected something to leak. I've seen reports saying he met Sharon in Manchester on Sat, was at the game last night, met the players before, etc. Yet not a single photo / whisper to verify this. If something isn't announced today, I can't help but feel we are looking at a manager possibly in work, and there are settlements to be agreed with their current club. Absolutely right that they take their time - as mentioned elsewhere, the transfer deadline isn't ideal, but shouldn't dictate the decision making process. I'll probably regret saying this, but I don't think it will be Schumacher!

What was he, 3 months into a 3 year contract or similar? If they've done a Megson on him, he might be obliged to forego some of his Stoke contract when he joins a new club.
January 29, 20251 yr It’ll be fine, everyone is getting a bit wound up about the time it’s taking to appoint. due diligence and a proper business like approach. It’s a good thing. Transfers wise, I’m sure we have a list of targets, maybe those targets were discussed at relevant interviews and feelers for players in question from all mangers may of been put out. I’ve no idea how it all works but im sure it’s in good hands.

Reports of his interest in the job have all come from his side of things. Betting markets are back in flux, with SS back to odds against and someone backing Wagner today. I don't think anything is imminent and I doubt there was anyone at the game yesterday or we'd have heard.

January 29, 20251 yr Not to sound too up our own arses and I know money is where it matters. But surely this job would be too good of an opportunity to pass on for a lot of those out of work right now. Especially for somebody like Schumacher who is local. January 29, 20251 yr Usual caveats, take it with a pinch of salt, etc. but of all the people claiming to be ITK, this person seems to be consistently on the money

These contracts have a notice period built in &, to repel pirates as much as the protect the manager, are typically 12 months. He will either get that as a lump sum or, as we did with Megson, dribbled out monthly. That is less common btw. Even if so he's a four months plus into it already. He left on September 16th.

It's taken since Oxford, arguably since Huddersfield, or Stockport, or Wigan. Certainly since before Christmas. The fact Sharon's was holding onto him till her fingernails were bleeding only adds to the situation & potential accusations by, it appears, retards, to question her inactivity. Doing that doesn't rubbish all she's done for the club it just says she should have been prepared & her faith wasn't repaid.
January 29, 20251 yr Could be schu, stumbling blocks. Wagner in frame, markham links. Fowler keen, could also be Steve Evans & Alan Brazil. Bit in paper
January 29, 20251 yr I’ve no idea who we’ll announce but I’m certain we’ll announce somebody at some point.
January 29, 20251 yr Like Bells, I to was wondering if the delay meant that Schumacher wasn't a shoe in. Those reported personal terms to be ironed out, whilst perhaps understandable, are an irritation. Whoever they apply to. Perhaps it is Nobby, and they had to wait until last night was over with. No idea ultimately.
January 29, 20251 yr Personally i'd want Schumacher and if we did want him then just get it over the line. Not interested in Wagner, we've had a poor mans Pep for the last 5 years and the last thing we need is a poor mans Klopp.
January 29, 20251 yr Did Wagner get Norwich up a few years back? It would bean appointment away from the mainstream, but certainly not one to frown about.
