And I really don't want to sound like a Evatt, but in today's game and all of the 3 losses, we haven't played badly, we've actually been the team on top and it's come down to moments. I don't even buy the whole argument that the players aren't trying or aren't fighting. I think there's a more complex mentality issue.

We are awful defensively, we are so easy to concede such soft goals. I also think having a defence that has constantly changed, one defender gets injured, one comes in, one gets injured, another comes in. The lack of a consistent back 4 or 5 definitely doesn't help. We are even changing the keepers.

I'm kinda seeing the remainder of the season as an experiment that Schuey is taking notice of and will give us next season with a new squad a real promotion push.

Absolutely this. Every time I look at the table, our goals against column makes me fucking wince.

Looking like it might have been too much to hope for in thinking SS could completely turn it around in a short time. Pondering and then building for next season seems to be what we will have to settle for.

Aaron Collins is an absolute Rolls Royce btw. He was head and shoulders the best player on that football pitch today.

We need a proper striker, we have two forwards who have done well to be getting as many as they have this season..

But we have a plethora of players for that attacking midfield/forward role (I'm shite with the proper positional names), 

McAtee, Lolos, Gomes, Randall, even Collins to some degree, are all very similar players.

Tutu seems to go missing when he plays the full game, but really we only have him and Schon as wingers, 

We have good players, they just don't gel well, they're a team but somethings just missing. 

 

Thought Etete looked quite threatening when he came on, albeit for a brief period of time.

Another season looming in this division.  All the time, the gap between the Championship and League 1 is getting bigger.

I would love to know what SS really thinks about the squad he has inherited. He has to be tactful and can't be too critical of individuals, given that he will want to offload quite a lot in the summer. I thinks he and IE are sort of mates too, so that's delicate. The poor and expensive investments have been named earlier, Markham has had a hand in causing a shit show. With new recruitment people in, I expect many changes next season. But with the new manager bounce, seemingly over, I'm sure SS honest opinions are well guarded.

The 'new manager bounce' is a Sky Sports and other media lazy phrase. It's far less of a thing nowadays than it's cracked up to be. If a squad isn't good enough to get up or stay up, a new manager isn't suddenly going to be able to get them to do things that are alien to them or they weren't signed to do. 

Though the way Evatt put that comment out was rooted in his own self importance the grain of truth in it lies in the failings of his recruitment 'strategy'. SS might well have been able to extract a few better results from them with some different words and system tweaks but too many of their habits and shortcomings are ingrained. He can't do much about inheriting a squad that's way off being fit for purpose and having been given zero days to even make a couple of last minute additions to freshen it up a bit

That's where I'm at, had no big expectations about what SS could be expected to achieve and renewed my ST in the anticipation of a major overhaul to go again with a more suited squad in August

I've tried to be rational about this an I do appreciate other posters comment and have listened to SS post match comments but I am totally sick of this now. To say it's beyond a joke is underplaying it. The saying if you can't win it don't lose it is very relevant. The goals conceded tally says it all, I'm not expecting to reach the play offs and I'm not expecting miracles but what i do expect starting Tuesday is a team that is hard to beat and does not concede soft goals. Over to you Schumacher.

Yep all too familiar feeling the morning after a derby game. Same again this next Wednesday morning. Serious issue for the club and it feels like it has been for a decade. 

Thought we actually played well yesterday, had loads of chances, which makes the defeat even harder to take. 
 

My short take after a top day out; We played fairly well and probably deserved more than what we got. 
 

We are too easy to score against though and especially away from home against an organised outfit, you leave yourself with too much to do. Having to score 2 goals to guarantee a point is far from ideal.

Yep. Last two seasons we've W2 D0 L7 v Stockport/Blackpool/Wigan. The earlier poster who said we are like a big old dog being poked with sticks by gleeful little kids is spot on. The problems pre-date the last couple of seasons. It was massively irritating two years ago it is now beyond parody and we are in a groundhog day paralysis with it. 

Six games out of 46 is 13 per cent of our fixtures in a season. It is not just abysmal, embarrassing and a permanent stain on our records against these smaller clubs, it is harmful to our prospects of escaping this league.

And let's face it, if we can't deal with this triumphant trio creating treasured memories at our expense, PNE, Burnley and Blackburn would find us easy pickings in the division above.

Take it back to when Evatt took over and add Tranmere in to those 3.

Not normally one to blame officiating on out comes but that Lino did not no what day it is, let alone how offside their chap was.

I actually thought we played well. Posed a threat and play with a bit of swagger.

Losing to them is minging though. 

That said SS needs to rebuild. Don’t think it needs a lot. Maybe a couple of players. Next season will be mega. With no beef I think this season is done.

I'm not convinced it is.

Top end is clearly much better, but Oxford and Pompey aren't doing too badly.

Stay up first time and build from there.
