Bristol Rovers (H)

Were unlucky against Brum tonight. Hit the bar twice and did a decent job, so will probably fancy their chances against us.

We just have to be a lot better than tonight’s debacle on Saturday and we’ll do ‘em.

This stage of the season I couldn't care less. 3 points. Onto Tuesday.

A tough win against opponents who came to defend and frustrate.

not pretty, but it doesn’t have to be, it’s a results business and patience was rewarded.

Happy if it pisses off opposition fans, puddled that it seems to upset some of ours when they don’t get the shit result they secretly want so they can really get stuck in.

up the fucking whites

Ultimately, it's the results that matter throughout the season.

Won't win them all, however well we play.

Will win fewer if we continually don't play well.

Clearly, at the moment, for whatever reason, the football isn't so good.

On the other hand, maybe the defensive side has picked up.

Just keep the results coming.

^ aye. 2 clean sheets in a row (1st time this season?). 6 or 7 more and we're going up!

Early 2025 tan work complete in the east stand.

3 points.

Clean sheet.

Paid for 2 beers, peddled 4

Nowt else matters.

Big shout out to Baxter keeping us at 1-0 with a fantastic save.

Great to see Dempsey back, the thought of him as a 3 with Morley and Sheehan might just get us out of this wank league. Great late boost in the season for us. Seriously lacking in options up top mind.

Today’s performance and got the last month we ant going up . but we won which it’s all about

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Performances over a season do otherwise you don’t get the points . At this end of the season it’s jus about winning especially if you get to Wembley pens will do

We either go 4/4/2 or we do not get to the play-offs period

A midfield of  Thomason, Sheehan Morley and Dempsey will get us there........The 3 at the back stiffles us we are shit playing this way....Great win today with the only bit of quality

we are turgid

SS has been a touch critical of the pitch.

Said it was a bit long, and dried by the wind making it slow.

Can't do too much about the weather, but knowing how it was going to be, and the manager's wishes, I'm a bit surprised that the grass height wasn't adjusted.

No change before Tuesday: wonder if they'll give it a trim, and a good dousing.

And before I forget, McAtee still gets right on my tits

I did wonder about that midfield- Tomo is arguably better pressing further up the pitch, and moving the ball quicker (using the buzz word in "transition").

Perhaps limits width, especially down the left, but perhaps gives a good all round balance.

No guarantee whatever formation we play though, and I can't see SS using it.

It's a point made by many others, including our manager, but there's one thing that matters at this stage of the season and one thing only:  results

And this week we've got them

Onwards and upwards

The only thing that matters at any stage of the season is results

Some times it's todd like 96/97

Sometimes it's parky like 16/17

I highly doubt performances like today or the last 5 games would be enough in the play offs

We need to get back to the 3-1 Brum levels soon

I think SS wants to play with 4 at the back tbf. However, he’s not given Murphy a minute since he dragged him off against Wrexham. He clearly knows that he’s a weak defender.

We don’t have another natural LB, and that’s the cards that he has to play with.

Thomason/Johnston In hybrid roles to suit the opposition.

I agree, but for now it's just about getting there

Biggest waste of money since Victor up front

The good thing for me is that 5 of our last 6 games are against teams with nothing to play for so if we can up our game there's no reason why we shouldn't make it

I like him.

Great attitude, he puts a shift in & he packs a shot.

He's a Lg1 player, so he's obviously got  limitations.

Probably.

Apart from Wycombe, there are no others challenging at the top end.

A team on the beach can be relaxed and dangerous or idle and shite.

I believe that there is a bit of an issue in how we start games: Sometimes sluggish like today, other times on the front foot, but both not yielding many goals.

Irrespective of opposition, it must become a bit of an impediment eventually.

Importantly, we're sticking at it and getting the result eventually, and you would imagine that they may become a bit more confident in themselves as that continues.

If we get there, then the play offs become less of a concern for me; we'll have been getting results to get there, and likely some reasonable performance level, and then it really is a case of results over performance.

As always the next game is the most important, and I expect changes again as I think SS is managing workload and working out how to beat each opponent in turn.

A wins a win;

Numerous references to evatt ball today. As with evatt, we we really struggle to get the ball forward, no movement from up front, without a striker and no forward running with the ball from midfield. Such a poor standard of football on display today from both teams. Maybe Farino edges mom for us with a 7/10. Struggling to identify a Bolton player above that today. We've also been awful on family days before, as we have in local derbys, so I guess that's an improvement. There won't be many kids recruited today, wanting to go to see more of that.

A wins a win though, right?

Thought Thomason did well when he came in, didn’t look out of place and drove us forward at times
