Bristol Rovers (H)

Were unlucky against Brum tonight. Hit the bar twice and did a decent job, so will probably fancy their chances against us.

We just have to be a lot better than tonight’s debacle on Saturday and we’ll do ‘em.

This stage of the season I couldn't care less. 3 points. Onto Tuesday.

I think ideally it'd be Collins or mcAtee but with injuries and the squad SS was limited with it'll be both til the end of thenseason

Crossing to who? Collins might have scored a header today but that's probably the first header he's won in his life.

Like someone said up there, Etete is the only solution if we want to use the wings to pop balls in the penalty area - the first choice XI are not up to it, unless Forino somehow goes up front.

He's been anonymous because he's a very average L1 wing back being asked to provide attacking width for an entire squad.

As for today, it's simple really. This team isn't very good. In that context, any win is a good win and if we get to the playoffs that'll be a very solid achievement for SS.

in the last ten games he's forced two players to be subbed because he would of got them sent off. Tutu also did get a full back sent off earlier in the season. He is inconsistent but to call him very average is quite frankly utter bollocks.

Crosses can be low, tbf

Poor game for the purists but at this stage in the season a win is a win no matter what , this will go to the last game for me other spots are taken now we are fighting with Reading , Huddersfield , possibly Orient for the last spot.
Losing Forrester is bad news but hopefully Toal will be available do like Forino though!

Ok so firstly crossing doesn't always mean a header. It can be put across the floor , near post , to midfield runners etc. IMO that's still better than being over patient and going back to the centre half and then sometimes keeper. We overplay looking for the perfect goal and end up with nothing. Secondly getting more people in the box isn't difficult. I'm not saying cross it every time but you don't need to be 6ft 5 to win a header.

That's a long time ago

Found it amusing that Bristol were time wasting until we scored and suddenly everything changed.

Our own time wasting by the corner flag at the end was outstanding.

Quality time wasting.

They were one of the worst teams I’ve seen all season at 0-0, and then at 0-1 they concentrated on actually trying to do something and suddenly looked half decent. Must be so frustrating for their fans.

Bristol were time wasting, when we did it, it was game management 😄.

Yeah but we were really good at it. Tutu in the corner - genius. Couple of their defenders were losing the plot.

Tutu had the ball in play killing out the clock they were taking ages over every set piece with the clock stopped.

Ha sorry it’s very confusing.  I think it’s the Rose and Crown pub  and I take your point.

Crown and Crest is shop opposite - for your family crest and heritage stuff.  Enjoy!

(any idea what the fish and chips next door are like?)

No mate, as it was classed 'Yorkshire' fish and chips.  I avoid anything to do with Yerkshire.

We went over to China and had orange chicken with rice and a Mongolian beef noodle combo, very good it was too.

The Forrester injury is a concern

Him leaving on crutches doesn't bode well

Hopefully it's not as serious as it seems

When the physio was “testing” his leg, he was in a lot of pain every time he moved his leg, visibly jumping around as though he was hurting him.

I’d be very very surprised if he’s not out for at least a couple of months, which means the rest of the season. Real shame because he’s looked really good and improving since he’s been back in the team.

Yeah but what a way to live your prime years 😁

Won the game and it’s all I care about. Certainly the bit my Reading work chum cared about going off my messages last night 😂

I think Schumacher has done a superb job even giving us a sniff.

No thanks

Plenty of creativity and protection too.

Width lacking, but it would allow the fullbacks to get forward. Won't happen though, as we don't play that way.

Mcatee made 3 or 4 good runs in behind first half and nobody read or made the pass. His movement is good but he tends to drop deep a bit too often. Needs to lead the line because Collins drifts about. This team still has evatt in its blood, they go backwards too often, too patient. The amount of times we get in position to cross the ball and it ends up with the fucking centre half. Hopefully with a proper transfer window and pre season schuey can eradicate this. When we actually cross the ball we can look dangerous but too often we waste it by passing it inside then backwards.

Reading SS comments, he's quite happy for us to utilise the passing around to pull a defensive team about.

Trouble is, the speed is a bit slow so it is less effective.

Aye.

There wouldn't have been 22000 of with Evatt in charge neither.

Great movement from Collins for his goal.

I don't think 'getting a player subbed' once every five games is the achievement you're making out it is here.

He's got one goal and two assists in 29 games. He's not shit, but he wouldn't have a prayer of being the starting winger (let alone the only winger) for a side chasing automatic promotion.

It mystifies me how we've watched this team for 40 games, we've played well about five times and yet general consensus is that all of our players are brilliant. SS is doing a great job getting what he can out of these.

When we pass it about slowly it causes us more problems than the opposition cause us in most games, the passes gradually get worse , one back pass to Baxter arrived at him knee high.

My massive irritation is the number of times a 10 yard pass is played just behind someone so there is zero momentum and we go back on ourselves.

I agree with a lot of the comments about the front two need to provide a better focal point but we also very rarely have a midfield player that breaks forward ahead of them, Legohead is the only that does it. Morley and Sheehan just not that type of player, hopefully this is something Dempsey can bring to the team
