kent_white Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Good folk of Wanderersways - I ask humbly for your help. About 3 months ago I bought a tropical fish tank with 6 small tropical fish in it (just little Mollys). Anyway - the tank now has 5 tropical fish in it because one of the bastards has completely disappeared. My options are a) It's got stuck in the filter somewhere (emptied the filter - moved all the plants etc and no sign) b) It's jumped out (can't see it anywhere and there is no dead fish smell emanating from anywhere) c) It's been eaten by another fish (unlikely as they are all the same size and there are no scales or bones floating around). So my question to you all is....... Where the fook is it? I'm currently working on the assumption that d) It has been abducted by aliens using some sort of tractor beam PS - we've no other pets so it's not like a cat has fished it out. Thanks in advance! 👍😁 Quote
DazBob Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Mollies are soft cunts and die all the time. It's probably lay dead in your tank somewhere and the others have eaten most of it. It won't have any colour left which is why it's so hard to spot. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 Aye, probably croaked it and been eaten. I have numerous sword tails that I want to get rid of, as they breed like fuckery, and out compete others. If you want some females, or a couple of males (more striking) you're welcome to them. Or a bastard tank full! I want to get back to a tank without live-breeders. Quote
kent_white Posted June 3, 2025 Author Posted June 3, 2025 Ha ha - surely there would be some evidence if it has been chomped? Quote

Thanks in advance! 👍😁 The last time I delivered this on here I copped a haranguing from an angry fish fiddler. I am going to deliver it anyway. At the University of Nebraska there is an incredibly powerful optical instrument known as the Nuclear Microptic Autocollimator Microscope. With this incredible piece of equipment, it is possible to observe the tiniest items imaginable - in some cases the actual atom itself. If I were using this instrument right now, I would still be unable to locate my interest in your problem. Quote

The good news is that parents will eat their young, so if you see any little ones, maybe stop feeding them! As for the remaining skeletal parts, maybe they were drawn into the filtration system. What size is your tank by the way, and is it naturally planted, and is your substrate gravel or sand, or both? Quote

Jesus - I've potentially got a fish carcass in me filter! 👀 Quote
