Huddersfield Town (H) - FA Cup 1st Round

A chance for SS to give a run out to some of the fringe players or does he keep a winning team?

Take a bow Josh Sheehan.  Absolute master class of how to play central midfield - winning loads of possession with good interceptions and tackling, which is his style, but his in-possession stuff was

Indeed, it’s very odd. I may be missing something, but currently you can’t buy 2 tickets together at all.

There’ll probably be a fair few people waking up and making the decision whether to bother or not. The club are making the decision for them.

The blocks at either end of East Lower have just been made available.

As much as I’d love us in the later rounds it’s all about getting out of this hideous league we are currently rooted too. The FA cup just doesn’t have the same feel about it that it once did. The Stoke semi final pumping and 5 first round exits since it, probably haven’t helped my enthusiasm for it.

We filled 2 sides of lower tiers with walk ups pre season v Preston. The club fucked up with one turnstile open for the north stand. Let’s see if they have learned any lessons from that.

Does this  go to extra time if drawn?

Come On You Whites!!!

To save potential bookings or injury, for both teams, could we just start this match from 2nd half added time ?

These days for me it's only magic of the cup if you end up getting to the later stages, or if you get a big/unusual away draw, shame to say.

Playing teams from your own division who you've only just played in the league aint it

But we have to do this, to get the big away draw and/or later stages you crave. 🤷‍♂️

True. Doesn't mean it gets the pulse racing though.

North Lower?

Surely that, than turn folk away.

Like you say, they could do with putting out that message early to encourage a few more walk-ons.

Got mine yesterday at about 1pm, they said they were approaching 5k. Perhaps they should have made that decision yesterday.

I thought about 6k total attendance today, so I can see why they are edging their bets  - is that about par for us in recent times for early round FA cup matches?

Its like the club find fans going to cup games inconvenient.  If there was 2k on I'm sure they'd be happier, thinking about the reduced need for turnstiles, stewards, catering etc.  They couldn't discourage fans from going more if they tried (other than pricing - but even that gives the message that the game is on a par with the U21s cup).

Its not everyone's thing (elderly etc) to be shoe horned into packed sections in seats/stands they aren't used to being in.

Would it really inconvenience the club/cost a fortune to open WSL from day one?  There would be folk turning up today (probably sat in their usual seat), that will be going shopping today instead rather than turning up on the off chance they open up some more areas where they can sit together.

What do these games all have in common related to today’s FA cup game between Bolton v Huddersfield, two bastions of English football tradition?

Motherwell v St Mirren - Scottish League cup semi-final

Falkirk v Kilmarnock - Scottish premiership

Chelsea v London City - Women’s super league

Libya v Afghanistan - Women’s international friendly

Arbroath v Ross County - Scottish Championship

Cove Rangers v Peterhead - Scottish L1

Elgin v Annan - Scottish L2

Got it. And it’s ridiculous.

All these matches are listed before the Bolton v Huddersfield match (and every other FA Cup tie) on the BBC list of today’s fixtures!

There was a time (not too long ago) when the FA Cup was shown first; even before Division One matches.

I go to the game on my scooter and leave it with the stewards in the sterile area between WSL  and NSL, no issues at all, for the Sheff Weds game I was halfway up in the middle of a row, I asked a steward if I could move t o the end of a row or  near the front but he said no, they also moaned as they didn't know what to do with my scooter I won't go unless the WSL is open

Yeh.

Surprises there are Duberry playing and Forino being in on the bench.

Make him cup-tied and sub him after 5 minutes.

9 subs???

In line with the premier league. It's a nonsense. I still think we should be seeing benches of 5 players and max of 3 subs

Huddersfield have 2 keepers on the bench..

It does signal that Brighton aren't recalling him or planning to move him elsewhere.

I like it!

Especially when you look at it from a BWFC perspective.

Allowing more of your players to be part of your match day squad is a plus for the players and manager.

I’m finding little to be negative about from a Bolton viewpoint - which is all I’m concerned about TBH
