Oldham Athletic (A) - EFL Trophy

Interesting on the post match interviews that they are bigging this game up.

An opportunity for the squad to excel again.

A winning draw on penalties - could be the most irrelevant penalty shoot-out ever 😂

What a game, missed pen, 8 goals, hit post, hit bar, missed chances for both teams.  What a great way to spend a Tuesday night and all for £10 ! home for 9-30, a bacon sarnie and a brew watching the

  • Shame about conceding a couple, but this has been a great run-out for our second string. This is easily the strongest squad we've had since Football Ventures took over, and the youth system is bearing

Why risk Johnston with the form he is in with a game that means nothing just play someone out of the youth team if there is no one available

I’m not saying I agree with the decision to play him, I said before I’d prefer to see someone from the youth team play. But you’re making it sound like there’s no reasons whatsoever to play him.

- It’s a game Schumacher wants to win

- He’d like to have a captain out there to hold together some continuity

- It provides some leadership and experience out there for the younger ones and ones on the periphery

- There’s 11 days till our next league game - he may well not consider it a risk

- Him playing will add to our chances of winning this game, keeping confidence and this winning run going

- Every other position has someone there who needs game time to prove themself, in terms of realistically breaking into the first 11

- He’s one of a number of players who fits the eligibility criteria

Now you could argue against every single one of those points, but if GJ plays, I suspect SS will have taken all that into consideration, which to me seems reasonable and understandable.

If Cogley is fit he could play left back and Taylor could play centre back with Forrester

So nobody from Saturday starts - fair play, still looks strong.

Trying to think where I saw Hogan - was it the first game at Everton? I think he stood out as playing well - good opportunity for him.

Broome as well - must be swept away with emotion turning out for the team he supports

Still a very strong looking side that and hard to believe it’s effectively our second eleven. Think there could be multiple changes at HT to give everyone a chance of some minutes. Strangely looking forward to the game. 😁

Wanderers TV and SKY?
Happy days in this foreign land 😎
Just need to persuade the missus to go out with her mates now.

Well he isn’t playing which is the correct decision.
we don’t know what state farino or toal will come back in madness to risk him

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s given a few some time off so they could maybe go away for a few days before a busy Christmas period - hence not having some of the ever presents even on the bench (although not sure if that works for some but not others).

Where’s your ambition and positivity?

Surely we’re striving for the sextuple 😁 (“Winning 6 trophies is a rare and significant achievement in football”)

- L1

- FA Cup

- EFL Trophy

- Youth cup winners

- B team League champions

- Womens tier 6 champions

6 stars above the badge on next seasons kit 😃

Add Forino, Erahahon and Gale  to those that never played Saturday and the squad looks very strong
