Alf Hartigan Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Simon Rudge was a midget. Not a forward either Quote

I would give Burstow a little rest. He is badly out of goalscoring form but he runs himself to a standstill and probably deserves a little spell of rest. He gets subbed every game he starts, which isn't every week. He's well down the list of players deserving a rest (but won't want one), behind Toal, Johnston, Sheehan and ACD. I know Burstow tries, as he should do, but I don't see the others putting in less than him and they are involved far more in our general play because of our style of play. Quote

Entwistle was here a couple of months wasn't he? Signed in desperation at the time, the level of Mike Ring and Etete (although to be fair to Entwistle he did have a half decent scoring record for about 10 years). The players we have up front now are longer term, planned signings playing most weeks not stop gaps for a month or 2. Quote

Makes me wonder has he lost his touch because he gets subbed or gets subbed because he’s lost his touch. Either way it’s not doing his confidence any good. Same as happened with Charles and Collins. Tbf I think he gets through a lot of work in a game which is why he struggles to do 75+ minutes, but the longer he struggles for goals the more work he tries to do and it’s all very counterproductive. masi 51 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Gobsmacked two clean sheets away and he has gone back to two wingers and Mcatee at ten Yes i get their defence could be fragile but Johnston, Toal walking out of defence does not fill me confidence Quote

Arrested development Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I don't get why we're going back to a back 4. I'll reserve judgement till I've seen it but I don't like it. As previously pointed out, two clean sheets going to a back 3 before this. 4231 with no Sheehan puts a lot of pressure on the wingers. Quote

Don't see why we can't set up differently home and away tbh, seems logical to me. If I was Forino I would be pissed off mind, not that gone to a flat back four, just that I couldn't budge Johnston. Sheehan/forss being injured opened up extra bench spots. Also they've gone back to wingers so it's not really surprising that they've got a winger on the bench. Quote

Zog1 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I guess his thinking will be that 343 didnt work last game other than to keep a clean sheet, and he needs to win games like this to stay in the running, so he needs the goals that didnt look like they were coming with 343. Perhaps the change in formation will suprise and disrupt the opposition instruction and give room to the likes of Gale and ACD. Quote
Arrested development Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Depends on what you mean by not working. We kept a clean sheet and created more chances against Wigan than we had been doing. Stevenage was always going to be a game of few chances. There has been a clear formula for away sides to stop our wingers. Double up and funnel everything through the middle. If gale and ACD can get the better of their full backs then it's do we have enough bodies in the box to take advantage. I'm hoping schuey and the staff have see something on film which makes them think they can be got at down the wings. Quote
