M G WHITES Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Off the top of my head was it 2 2 that game?
Whites man Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Cracking photo Most from that era are blurred scans of regular photos, good work.
mr_disco Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Off the top of my head was it 2 2 that game? What a day. Aye 2-2, as memory serves the equaliser came from a throw in we got when a Burnley player put the ball into touch when DeFreitas was down injured. Taken by the living legend Super John McGinlay...
Danny G Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 A Blast from the past!!!, i remember it well, pretty sure this is the game that Simon Coleman made his debut!! Quality game, I never thought id see more inbred people than those from Blackburn, until I went to Burnley!!! Happy Days
MOOSE36 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I too remember it very well. we were segregated by that crap fence and it was coin city back and too. A good few punches were traded in the town centre afterwards - ::::::
MOOSE36 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 when was that about 1994 or am i miles away (remember coleman playing at reebok as well as burnden i think)
Danny G Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 94/95 season , he got injured a few months before the end of the Promotion season !! remember him being class for us, but i dont think he really got back into the team after his injury. Looking at that Photo reminds me of how much better Standing up in the terraces was!!
george Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Who is the Burnley number 10 that Jimmy Phillips is stood next to?
Carlos Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) Who is the Burnley number 10 that Jimmy Phillips is stood next to? Is it Adrian Heath? For the record, this was the game that Nicky Spooner had his leg broken by that fcuking dirty bastard John Gayle. Edited January 26, 2008 by Carlos
george Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Is it Adrian Heath? For the record, this was the game that Nicky Spooner had his leg broken by that fcuking dirty bastard John Gayle. It's not Heath. His name makes a phrase with Heath though
Underpants Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I tell you what the noise that we made under that roof was tremendous. Always looked forward in going to Burnley. And I'm sure the Burnley fans always enjoyed our company too. Home or away these matches were always proper ding dong do's. Japs eye time.
Mounts Kipper Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Next season we could well be back there, dont think it would be so bad myself.
Underpants Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Next season we could well be back there, dont think it would be so bad myself. Don't think they will go up Kips. Positive thinking man.
athywhite1958 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Aye, remember it well, happy days, as we were driving home a cop van pulled in front of us, a couple of coppers opened the back doors while 3 others bundled one of the Athy Whites in the back. He got home about 10.30 that night after getting a taxi from Burnley cop shop and doing a runner up Hag Fowd
Burndens Bogs Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Beltin' photo For some reason myself and a few others had tickets for the stand opposite the Wandererss fans (Bob lord stand?) that day, the local retards weren't very happy when we all jumped celebrating our late equaliser. It wasn't for the faint hearted after the game too iirc.
Rembrandt Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Funny this thread should crop up tonight. I've just got back from Marine V. Frickley (Northern Premier). Frickley apparently had been 3-0 up at Gateshead with 16 mins to go in their last away game, and lost. (Anyone remember the Whites at Chelsea & Watford ?). Someone said 2 Frickley men sent off. So this afternoon, 3rd at home to bottom, Frickley went 3-0 up in the 39th minute. Sadly, by half-time, it was 3-1 and they'd had 2 men sent off - again. The whole second-half with 9 men, as bottom club, and they held on to win 3-2. Now that's bravery & determination & commitment. Natch, Marine being Merseyside (Crosby), the air was blue with home whingers. Added to my enjoyment anyhow.
MOOSE36 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Sounds a good laugh, not watched marine since about 1978 when me dad use to take me
