Traf Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) Out of interest, where did we sign Garry Jones from then? Runcorn? He came as an apprentice from school. Wythenshawe lad. He ended his career at Runcorn. Edited January 26, 2008 by Traf
bolty58 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 He came as an apprentice from school. Wythenshawe lad. Ta mate.
Whites man Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Out of interest, where did we sign Garry Jones from then? Runcorn? Signed him straight from school Skip. Russ Abbott comes from Ellesmere Port.
Traf Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Ex-England and Wolves defender Stan Cullis was from Ellesmere Port too. He only joined Wolves because he failed a trial at Bolton! Became a Wolves legend and was their most successful manager.
SatanGreavsie Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Frickley apparently had been 3-0 up at Gateshead with 16 mins to go in their last away game, and lost. (Anyone remember the Whites at Chelsea & Watford ?). Aye, I was at that bloody Watford game. To add insult to injury I think you still had to traipse round half a mile of allotment to get out of the ground. Just checked - 23/10/93, so over 14 years ago. Time bloody flies First time I went there was a night match, and looking at the stat site I guess it must have been League Cup 2nd round in 1989. I remember leaving a boozer full of Bolton fans who were obviously supping till the last minute on the basis that they were literally over the road from the gound. 20 minute allotment walk later half of 'em turned up with most of the first half finished! Happy days
TotalBelief2024 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I think Simon Coleman may have scored on his debut? I was quite drunk. I remember that terrace being packed, way too many in. Great atmosphere, Turf Moor, proper old footy ground
bolty58 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Signed him straight from school Skip. Poor bastud been chucked in one of those had he?
leigh white Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Took my lad to that game, he was only nine year old at the time, so we went behind the goals on the open end terrace with the dingles. when we scored the second. Me and him went mental, much to the disgust of our inbred neighbours.
MickyD Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Didn't we play them twice in a couple of weeks? I seem to recall it kicked off a bit in the first game then the police got their maths right second game and it was fairly quiet. Used to go a lot on the train and seem to recall there was often a big fooker sat on his garden wall up the street to the station eying us and swinging a hammer. Once walked/thumbed it for an Anglo/Scottish cup game just after they'd been relegated from first division. Started at Crofters in Bradshaw, got a lift on a wagon to Rawtenstall, walked it the rest of the way.
revdishydave Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 my first away game... we played oldham wither the week earlier or later, also 2-2 (i think- and on granada) sure it was just before my b'day- 08/10/94? i got the train on m'todd, and missed the first goal impatiently waiting at the turnstiles, remember having to 'jog' to the station afterwards...
mannyroad58 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 A lad from Burnley was fcuking his sister & she started laughing, "what's so funny" he said "you fcuk like our dad" she said "that's just what mum said" the brother replied
Widnes Two Hats Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Didn't we play them twice in a couple of weeks? Yep, once in the FA cup then the following Saturday in the League Seem to remember us winning the first 1-0 That was some battle when we emerged from the end of that cricket pitch Every backstreet I looked down resembled a scene from the wild west
