We have?

Matt Taylor is twice the player Diouf was last season.

He's right.

Diouf flattered to deceive more often than not.

Returned from African Nations and declared himself "not in the right frame of mind" to play/earn his wages.

Was often a luxury we could ill afford.

Announced his intentions to leave whilst we were still fighting for our lives.

Booing him will spur him on, ignoring him will work better. But more than that, getting behind our own players will work best of all.

PS MickyD: his spitting was put down to a culture difference, eh? That might have got him off the hook the first time, but he's been involved in 3 spitting incidents in his time in England.

Granted Matt Taylor has had a couple of good games, but is nothing like Diouff in terms of running with the ball. Im not saying either or, I'm saying we should have kept Diouf in our threadbare squad as he is world class admittedly on his day, I would have sonner seen Riga and Smorleks wages spent on him as they are proving that it takes 12 months to get used to the pace of this league. When we have a couple of injuries and Joey O'Brien is back in our our midfield 'holding' quartet we'll see.

With Diouf in the side,we'd have a better home record than we do now.

His quality would almost certainly have turned a 0-0 against West Brom into a 1-0 win,and would Blackburn and Everton have kept clean sheets? No in my opinion.

how often did he do that last year?

we're better placed now than we were when we had diouf AND Anelka in the team

The only players I would take from them are Jones and Richardson. The rest are shite.

Seriously?

I'd happily take Malbranque, Cisse, Kavanagh and, at a push, Ferdinand.

And yes, I'd take Dioufy back, too.

(Just kidding about Kavanagh, obviously!)

Craig gordon is a good un too, but hes no Jussi or AAH

I liked Dioufy when he was with us. When the right head was on, he made things happen. Two things I have to say though:-

1) I wouldn't swap him for Matty Taylor. I don't think we've seen Taylor at his best yet.

2) Anelka is/was classes above Dioufy. One of the best we'll ever see in a BWFC shirt. Pure class.

We also could of conceded at the other end. I doubt Diouf would of made that much difference as you think, he didnt have a very good scoring record and we did create chances in them games but missed them. Swings and roundabouts at the end of the day imo

He totally bossed the game last time I saw him. Mind you that was Carlisle v Posh...

The argument that you need to meet someone to form an opinion is total bollocks. Don't you have opinions that are based on anything other than your own experiences? So that wipes out disliking anyone you haven't met nor admiring anyone you haven't had a photo taken with. One dimensional view, but you're welcome to have it. My own personal view, which led me to do no more than decide not to applaud anything he did, was based on the fact that he spat in another player's face, and spat on more than one occasion at fans. Now he might well have signed a poster sized print for someone straight after that, but I'm appalled that I'm the mug for not condoning that because he's a nice chap when you meet him in person. I don't know whether the wife-beating things was ever true, I can't remember.

Yes, I do tend to judge people on their words and deeds, and I do start off thinking that everyone is a good sort but just because he wears the white shirt doesn't mean you can't dislike them. They still need to earn respect.

And no, I didn't applaud him. And as for explaining spitting in someone's face being a cultural thing, really??!!!! He did it a few times, and he'd been over here for a long while so that can't be an excuse. You might have bought it, and that's your opinion that you're welcome to but I didn't. Neither one of us are wrong.

only fans he's ever spat 'at' were celtic fans when he was at pool the whole boro fans thing was a f?cking farse. i'll agree he was a cock for spitting at DeZeeuw but most players have done numb things in the heat of the moment

Eto'o and i think Totti as well have both been known to spit on other players i wouldn't say no to them strutting their stuff at the 'bok

I'll be honest I don't remember that one but i bow down to your superior knowledge.

Well officially it never happened - Merseyside police investigated and found no evidence.

Now my eyesight ain't great but I was about 6 rows back and saw it clearly with my own eyes. Front two rows were soaked by the little red ginger.

Ooh! Ooh! That'll be me then. Show me in my post where it said I'm basing my opinions only on the fact that I've met him.

I was saying he really is a lot nicer guy than that portrayed by the tabloids.

Of course you can form an opinion of someone without meeting them. After all, I've formed an opinion of your good self without meeting you! :p

The bloke is a bit of a c*ck but when he played for us I loved the fact he just had to walk on to the pitch to instantly wind up the opposing fans, I got great pleasure from that!

The fact he has played for us means if he does play on Saturday for Sunderland the 'wind up' effect he has on others wont be there that day.

I wont be booing him Saturday. If he acknowledges the Bolton fans on Saturday I will acknowlege him back with a clap.

Sorry Micky, was replying to no balls with the first bit mate (see her post one or two before yours)

I know that you were saying that you think he's a nicer guy than in the tabloids.

I said in the summer that we will be a better team without him and I stick by that comment.

We may miss his odd climpse of quality in a dull game but overall we are a far better unit without him.

On reflection, Yossi's right.

If he has to take a corner or throw-in in front of the ESL, he should have to do it under a shower of phlegm.

I asked the question as you seemed pretty vocal (if you can do that typing) about how much you don't like him. If you wish to go off on one, I have no issue with that, I don't really have any feelings either way tbh, I thought maybe there was a story to be had.

When I've met him he always seemed ok, but as I say, just a few sandwiches short tbh.
