Matt Lofthouse
Might as well turn this into an anti Megson thread, do you not reckon Pearce deserves a bit of credit for Fabrices good form i.e letting the lad do what he does best and not try moulding him into something hes not, just let the lad play. Good Managers get the best out of players and Fabrice didn?t have the best of seasons with us did he! Well done anyway Fabrice.
THunter
Sorry to spoil the wankfest, but it is just one game. He's had good matches before but then not produced the goods in the ones that followed. The lad seems to have the right attitude. He admits that he wasn't good enough last season (as opposed to Nolan who was in denial) and he's one of the players who stays behind to do extra training. Hopefully he'll come good. It might be right that he needs a creative player to give the ball to, but they're in short supply and cost a lot. The assumption that we're going to find one is on the optimistic side. Fair play to Pearce for singling him out for praise.

It's fairly clear that Megson has to work within the constraints of Bolton Wanderers whereas Pearce has a squad of 22(?) players selected from a pool of young English players with no budgetary concerns. Agree, Carlos. Muamba will come good. Can't really understand this anti Megson drivel. It's not as if it is going to get Gartside to sack him after he has kept us up for 2 seasons. All this about needing a creative midfielder alongside him is rubbish imo, he just needs some players who move and create space for themselves. Our midfield was so slow and static last season and there was never much on when players recieved the ball in midfield. Sean Davis will help this as he is quite mobile and clever and im sure Megson is looking at others to improve the midfield.
YATESY
For those who watch Muamba without preconceived thoughts, he has produced similar performances for Bolton. His break-up play for us has been superb but we have been asking him to also do the box-to-box role - which he isn't as good at. Great performance for the U'21s and a clear signal to the boo-boys of what he can produce for us given better colleagues in centre midfield

forever white
Just seen a nice piece on Muamba on Sky Sports News , they suggest more performances like the other night could push him for a call up to the senior squad(not so sure yet ). Stuart Pearce described his performance as the best ever for a holding midfielder in an England shirt. All this attention can only help boost his confidence. THunter
I corrected it backSo you're claiming that Muamba performed consistently well for us last season, despite Megson and the player himself saying he didn't? Righto.

Site Supporter HomerJay Posted June 20, 2009 Site Supporter Share Posted June 20, 2009 if he was consistant, he'd be worth 20m and playing for a top 4 club.

jonathan
consistency comes with age and experience. people forget he's only 20. he has played alot of games already in his last 3 seasons but he will get better and stronger. now that he has had a season to settle at the reebok he will hopefully produce his best season (and hopefully with that a few more goals!!) Good to see if Fabrice can maintain his form for the lads He (and others) might be rested for the semi-final. Not that anyone wants to give a result to the Germans, let alone Pearce, surely.
