So, Scottish football is struggling because Setanta cannot afford 3 million quid.

A day or so later, Real Madrid pay 80 million quid for Ronaldo.

Can you see what I'm getting at?

Football should be burnt down.

It is absolutely fucking ridiculous isn't it?

Thing is, plenty complain about the share of PL rights but in Spain and Italy the big clubs negotiate their own deals so surely their system means the rich stay rich no matter what? Or have I got it wrong? :pardon:

Yes and the self interested mega rich bast?rds will eventually f?ck the game completely.

Hopefully, after the turmoil, a draft system with a salary cap will be introduced to restore sanity. Maybe then many of the corporate wankstains who only see football clubs as 'investment opportunities' rather than the expression of many peoples local identity will f?ck off to pastures new and the peoples game will be returned to those who made it what it is in the first place.

We should just be thankful we don't have the same system as the Spanish, where each team negotiates its own deal with the TV companies. Real Madrid signed a deal in 2006 for 1.1 billion euros over 7 years, so its no wonder they can afford these big money signings.

How much do you reckon anyone outside the top four would be able to negotiate in this Country if that were the case and is it any wonder Barcelona and Real are the top teams in Spain while the likes of Valencia are financially fooked.
