Guest Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 serious question as I can't remember; Was elmander a megson signing? yes, summer of "08
Mounts Kipper Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Couple of things mentioned on this thread firstly have Fulham really spent serious money? I can not recall any massive fees except for Johnson who did not play today, I would think they have spent similar money to us, secondly cannot get my head round this slagging off of Matthew Taylor, O.K. he is having a lean time at the moment but remember last week he was played out of position, he remains a big threat from set pieces, scored 10 goals last season and will not be far of this season in my opinion, he works hard does not hide and is technically one of our better players, those who slate him and there are many should take a good look at themselves.

Good shout Mounts. He should have had an assist to win the game as that was a cracking cross for Steinson's miss !!
Guest Blixa Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Point away at Fulham, you can't argue with that. Well, you can, but everyone will just laugh at you.

They have spent a fair bit on players in the past two years. Paintsil and Zamora 6.3 million Johnson 10.5 million Duff 4 million Koncheskey ? up to 3.5 million also managed to get some good free transfers (Gera, schwarzer). theres a few others who i'm not sure of fees like etuhu, riise, eddie johnson, hangeland, stephen kelly, nevland, dikgacoi and if greening's deal becomes permanent then that will be over 3 million. i don't think that's too expansive. worth also pointing out that previous managers have spent a fair bit on players ( Kamara 6 million, Murphy, Dempsey simon davies etc). Still play nice football and got them in europa league so he's probably spent well,
Guest Biff Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 A better performance than of recent from Bolton. Overall a draw was a fair result but it could quite easily have been a win. Steinsson's miss from Taylor's free kick spoiled an otherwise great game and he must play next week. His absence has obviously geed(is that a word) him up. A draw at Fulham is a good result, unfortunately the other results went against us and we are in a worse position than we were at three o'clock yesterday. At least Wolves lost today. About Matt Taylor. He looks knackered and is due a rest. He is slow to react and doesn't keep up with play. At the same time though he is always likely to score a goal or provide an assist from a free kick. But can we afford to play someone who only takes free kicks?
Piemon Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Personally thought is was a poor performance 2nd half Yesterday FAR TO FCUKING NEGATIVE. sat back and got what we deserved. If Fulham were a 'top' team, they would have taken us to the cleaners. im not saying that a point away at Fulham is a bad result, far from it I have been as positive as anyone re 'Megson' but yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. If we play like that all season we WILL go down............... Good Weekend away though
onlyoneawalker Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Would have snatched your hand off for a point at 3pm my observations: Positives: - Klasnic great finish and looked lively and interplay decent - Steinnsson looking good and hungry - Being proved right thanks to Fulham that the key differential between about 12 teams in the prem isnt all about money it's managerial talent as much as anything Negatives: - Loosing a lead - Loosing possesion like an under 13's team - Kammys comments re what gartside said and probably another god knows how many weeks in the twilight zone

Perhaps Megson is a little better as his team secured an away point? Edited November 29, 2009 by boltondiver

As a defender is Matt Taylor is stood over the ball you worry. That's good enough for me.

Me too, Although again Yesterday Taylor looked well off the pace. Two corners 2nd half didnt clear knee height. He needs a rest imo

He needs a rest imo Dont think he needs a rest we have only played 12 games all season and was he not dropped for 1 or 2 of them, just going through a bad spell, he is a good player and will prove it as the season progresses.

MickyD Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 goal aside, do you honestly believe he was better than elmander was last week? But you can't put the goal aside. Elmander didn't score, Clasnic did. Simples!

clown Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Good point at Fulham, but anyone who thinks we are working towards anything remotely entertaining or easy on-the-eye is deluded. Garbage might be a more accurate description. Damien Duff's equaliser deprived thuggish Bolton of an ugly victory on a day when no one, especially not the game of football, was a winner. Bolton face a Football Association fine for failing to control their players after Kevin Davies was booked as early as the second minute and five more men in dark blue received yellow cards. They will consider it a price worth paying if the point they gained helps to keep them in the Premier League. They should just be grateful that there are no financial penalties for playing horrible football. The conditions, bright and crisp, were perfect for football, but Bolton did not want to play any and Fulham were unable to do so. It was probably unreasonable to expect any better from a side struggling at the foot of the table after just one win in six matches and whose manager had confirmed whispers of a disruptive elements in the dressing room. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...l#ixzz0YK5GKxSX
MickyD Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Typical of all football writing from any one of hundreds of South-based, North-hating sports journalists. He'll be espoucing about any London team we play this season. He isn't a football writer, he just hates Bolton with a passion!
smithills_gent Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 goal aside, do you honestly believe he was better than elmander was last week? Yes,Klasnic didn't realise he was out of his depth and give up...
tylswhite Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 goal aside, do you honestly believe he was better than elmander was last week? LMAO Goals win points, if a striker scores hes done his job imo. Klasnic is so much better than Elmander because when he gets the ball he actually believes he is going to score whereas Elmander cant even control the ball never mind hit it goalwards. You can just tell when Klasnic gets the ball he is thinking GOAL, GOAL, GOAL where Elmander is probably thinking please hit the target. Maybe its just a confidence thing for Elmander who knows? but whatever it is he doesnt look like scoring.
Grad Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Klasnic did precisely nothing other than score - brilliant. We don't need another work-hard, score-little striker, we already have one of those, we need a goalscorer and if Klasnic fancies just wandering around the pitch for an hour but scoring his only chance, then I'll take that every time. I haven't seen us live much this season and was shocked by how ineffective Taylor was, barring one free-kick. Obviously a few on here have said how below-par he's been but it still came as a surprise
