TroySwoosh Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Ive just watched zero dark thirty. Belting film but the waterboarding / torture scenes are a bit raw watched that last night, should've been named zero to see in the dark scenes for the last thirty minutes Quote
no balls Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Total Recall fuck me I dread to think what they'll do to Robocop Does this mean stay away at all costs? I heard there were no Johnny Cabs and that put me right off. Quote
athywhite1958 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Has anybody seen St Georges's Day yet? if so, is is it worth a look? Quote
Zico Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Does this mean stay away at all costs? I heard there were no Johnny Cabs and that put me right off. I honestly found it frustrating to watch because they've changed the storyline quite a lot but tried to stick with some of the original bits you know when remakes give a nod and a wink to the original, like when robert mitchum and gregory peck were in the cape fear remake, well they stuck a bird with 3 tits in but, there's no reason why a bird in this film would have 3 tits, not even a martian wank tainted the memory going to have to watch the original again, quickly Quote
no balls Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Cheers. I'll steer clear. Melinda was clearly worth putting into the remake in their eyes, but no Johnny Cab. Poor, Quote
barryk32 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Vile. About a group of 'youngsters' who pick up a hitch hiker type (will they ever learn) then wake up in a room and have to torture each other. Trys to be a shock film like Hostel etc and fails, could have been a decent B movie but it isn't. Shit acting, shit storyline, shit effects, really shit ending. 2/10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfeXn_1RrlU Quote

DazBob Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Does this mean stay away at all costs? I heard there were no Johnny Cabs and that put me right off. As a film in it's own right, I didn't think it was too bad. I watched it with someone else and who hadn't seen the original and they enjoyed it (yes, I thought it odd they'd never seen it too!) . The problem is, like with all remakes, if you've seen the original you're going to be comparing it all the way through. The fact that they don't even go to Mars was a poor decision on the makers' part IMO and because of this and the lack of Johnny Cabs meant it was always going to fall short. But, as I said, I reckon if you've not seen the original I reckon you'd think it was a good filum. Quote

I love my movies Dont get your hopes up, has a bit of a cult following. Films with cult following are normally shit unless you're a member of the cult Edit : Just looked on IMDB and it gets a 8/10, about right I'd say. Under discussion topics though are titles such as "Am I the only one who hates this movie", "The most over rated IMDB score ever" and "This movie sucks" Make of that what you will but I think its fucking ace Edited January 10, 2013 by barryk32 Quote

DazBob Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 WHAT? So he's not dressed as a woman at passport control? It can fuck right off! I think that bit does happen, not in the same way mind. (TBH I'd had a bit of vino and had got to the point of not really being overly interested in it). Sounds to me like you'll be watching it and trying to tie it back to the original ... as I think everyone will. .. and for that reason alone it'll fall short. Very short. Watch it when you're old and there are only one or two marbles rolling around. You'll probably like it then. Quote
Zico Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 WHAT? So he's not dressed as a woman at passport control? It can fuck right off! no, he's got some sort of hologram type thing that makes him look like someone else, which breaks and flickers - the whole scene is over with very quickly I'm still annoyed with it but more so because there is no depth to the characters or plot, it's very flimsy and they briefly skirt over the details whilst concentrating on the action sequences and miniority report-esque futuristic touches, which look nice so for me, as a stand alone film, it's still weak, and it's annoying because it's nicked bits from the original whilst trying to be different but fails on all fronts or maybe I'm just too attached to the original Quote
Zico Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 that and I think Colin Farrell is a twat that might have somert to do with it Quote
DazBob Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 maybe I'm just too attached to the original and I think Colin Farrell is a twat Bingo Quote
no balls Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 that and I think Colin Farrell is a twat that might have somert to do with it He is. Another reason to avoid. Cheers. Quote
Zico Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Bingo yeah, I knew I shouldn't have watched it, but I couldn't help miself in the same vein, I have never seen Conan The Barbarian, watched the new one the other day, was watchable sunday afternoon fayre, didn't bother me that they've remade it so "soon" but have you seen what they've done to Robocop? the only thing that could make this more upsetting would be to announce Nicholas Cage in the lead role Quote
DazBob Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 but have you seen what they've done to Robocop? No .. and thankfully whatever picture you've posted must be being blocked by the servers at work. I loved Robocop, I hope they've not fucked this one up too... I'm tempted to look for trailers now... and fear I'll regret doing so. Quote
DazBob Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Hmmm Looks like it's been done on a tight budget... Quote
Maggie Tate Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Remakes are offensive. They're either an abomination like Cage's Wicker Man or Reeve's Rear Window, or a precise copy, like yon mon who thought it would be a good idea to do Psycho. The only good remake is The Man Who Knew Too Much, which Alfred Hitchcock make in 1934 but wasn't happy with it, so he did it again in about 1956. They've done a Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Pants. Sylvester Stallone's Get Carter the crowning turd in the gutter. Oh wait! True Grit. That's an exception. And Scorsese's Cape Fear is good. And I suppose The Departed was a remake of Infernal Affairs which was good though Infernal Affairs was superior. Quote
snowball Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Saw that Tyrannosaur the other night. Good film, bit raw and near the knucle at times but moving as well,Peter Mullan is a great actor. Then watched The Sweeney but could only stand about forty minutes before I gave up. Should have known it would be crap, from John Thaw to Ray Winstone. Facking cahnt. Wobbling around, growling at everyone and shagging Hayley Attwell, do me a favour. Was like a British version of the A Team, villains firing semi automatics in a lock up and missing every fucker! Utter shite IMHO. Quote
