jeep Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I recall Bristol Rovers wearing our green away kit in the match at Burnden in 80-81 season owing to them losing theirs in the fire, or am I imagining things? They wore green & black quarters
Casino Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 They wore green & black quarters wasn't that the colour front cover on the programme for a season?
sunninghill Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 96 BWFC away competitive matches, clubs only (not different stadiums). I don?t usually bother with friendlies, though I can see the attraction of pre-season trips abroad. I know you don?t want the detail, but I?ve gone & checked it up now ....... 83 current Prem/League clubs -a- 12 ex League clubs -b- 1 non-League club -c- -a- As far as I know, the Whites haven?t play competitively at MK Dons, Dagenham & Redbridge, Wycombe, Cheltenham, Stevenage, Morecambe, Burton Albion & Barnet; and the last game at Accrington Stanley was 1926 ? a year or two before my time. -b- Including Scarborough (now defunct) and Wimbledon (now AFC Wimbledon). -c- Bath City ......... plus, if they count, you can add Rossendale Utd (at Bury), Emley (at Huddersfield), & Gretna (at Burnden). The only different clubs I can remember missing were Gateshead in 1953 (my first away match was a cup tie at, strangely enough, Birmingham City in 1955) and Witton Albion (flu). Plus 9 UEFA away ties & the Anglo-Italian at Pisa. Maybe I can make the 100 before I pop my clogs. On the other hand, if I translated all that (including travel/hotels/food) into a current value in ??s, I?d probably top myself.

sunninghill Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Saw Bolton play at Accrington's Peel Park in late 50's pre season friendly or something like that, but dif played there since 1926.
superjohnmcginlay Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) sheff weds once played at burnden on our second strip. can people remember why? Didnt they not bring there away kit and the referee deemed there blue n white stripes clashed with our white, so the ref made them wear the yellow one Edited February 28, 2011 by superjohnmcginlay

superjohnmcginlay Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 No. Oh, it seems a kit clash with the referee then? http://www.the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21302
Zico Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 sheff weds once played at burnden on our second strip. can people remember why? was it not an older kit? I remember it looked about 2 sizes too small on each player
enzo gambaro Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) Oh, it seems a kit clash with the referee then? http://www.the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21302 Aye. Their first kit clashed with ours, their second kit clashed with the ref's and their third kit (white with narrow black stripes) clashed with both! Dozy fuckers had faced the same problem a week previously when Newcastle were forced to wear their away colours for a 4-2 home win. Wednesday must have liked our yellow kit because they brought out their own and made it their third kit shortly afterwards. Edited February 28, 2011 by enzo gambaro

It was just after refs in the premier league started wearing different coloured tops, it had nt spread to the little leagues so as it was a football league rather than premier league competiton the ref refused/was nt allowed to change.
Gumbo Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 grounds where ive watched football was 76 at last count a while ago but that included clubs in europe and the u.s. and not always watching Bolton

G/L WANDERER Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 on the kit bit,did we not play in the fabulous red and blue stripped shirt at home to gretna? I think you're right but were we not the away team as the match was switched to Burnden
Idiot Wind Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 on the kit bit,did we not play in the fabulous red and blue stripped shirt at home to gretna? Yeah, pretty sure we did. Counting just the clubs in the leagues now I've been to 37 - would have said it was more than that.
MickyD Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 17 from 20 current Prem clubs (inc bolton) 15/24 Championship clubs 9/24 League 1 clubs 6/24 League 2 4 Blue Square Plus 4 or 5 friendlies and Atletico madrid. So 60 I think
victor meldrew Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 thats enough, i've got a bigger willy than you.... who cares by the way i've been to every game since 1971
Theboybell Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 A mere 36 and 5 europe away days, I'm only 27 so give me chance to catch up with all the old timers on ere and will become competitive!
Guest Biff Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 thats enough, i've got a bigger willy than you.... Don't believe everything your wife tells you.
enzo gambaro Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 A mere 36 and 5 europe away days, I'm only 27 so give me chance to catch up with all the old timers on ere and will become competitive! Problem is, though, there isn't the variation any more. It might have been shit going all the way down to the fourth division but it got a fair few on here a big stack of spotter's badges. The likes of West Brom and Wolves bobbing up and down between the leagues doesn't help anyone get their number up, does it? That said, I reckon there'll be three new grounds for a plenty of folk to go at once the Championship dust has settled this season. I'm just hoping West Ham stay up...
