Spider Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 These pictures are much more harrowing Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Gorgeous today. Been sat in mud, digging out weeds, and didn't mind one bit. Birds singing, insects actually pollinating the cherry plums. Spring- Let's be having it! Quote
BobyBrno Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Lovely walk up to ‘Two Lads’ from Walker Fold. Got a bit of a tan. Spring has sprung. Quote
Sweep Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Nice and sunny in the Shires today, but blimey, it's absolutely freezing, far too cold to be outside - I've had to flick the heating back on for an hour Quote

T shirt and light sweatshirt tops in the sun. Bloody poly-tunnel has got up to 35⁰C during these sunny couple of days. Bonkers. Quote
gonzo Posted April 3, 2024 Author Posted April 3, 2024 Rain Rain Fucking Rain. It's been raining now since last June when we had our 3 week summer. One small frost in November, the rest just fucking rain. There's standing water all over, fields are like bogs and kids footy cancelled every week. Sick to death of it. Quote

The footy pitches have been unplayable since Xmas. The backlog of games is a fckin nightmare and that’s assuming they dry out by next week. Much more of this and the season may as well be jacked in. Shropshire is one deluge away from disappearing Quote

Shropshire is one deluge away from disappearing Same here mate. My eldest is gonna be on Thursday and Sunday matches but the pitches are still fucked. There's loads of 4G gaffs but nowhere near enough for the demand. The club my kids play for has 54 teams across the board and that's just one team. No chance the season is finishing. Talking to farmers and horse folk round me, their fields are swamped. Horses are normally out by now but it's just too wet. Can't be having spring lambs floating about in wetlands either. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Wettest 18 months ever recorded. 1700mm of rain. Un-harvestable food rotting in the fields end of last season, and now impossible to get on them to prepare/sow. Helped a bit with sheep feeding earlier, and the farm, despite a decent hay crop last season, are now running low because the animals can't be allowed onto the fields fully. Wouldn't be surprised to see some high-ish food prices later. Everyone is pissed off with it now. Had the odd nice day recently, with some warmth, but this is just bollocks now. But never mind, we're going to build hundreds of thousands more houses on flood plains to help! Quote

Zico Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Am in Brisbane for a few weeks It's autumn and I was on a desert island yesterday and it was 30 degrees I could be tempted to move here Not sure I could handle their summers though if this is autumn Quote
FrancisFogarty Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 Can't see it getting better any time soon, bowling starts next week. Quote
