DazBob Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 If the likes of Appleton and Phil Brown are our only choices at present I'd not be averse to giving Little Sam another bash. Quote

I agree, would rather give little sam another go rather than Phil Brown certainly. I don't know much about Appleton at all to be honest, so can't really comment on his ability Quote
Guest Blixa Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Down to the piece on Sky Sports earlier. Quote

He's got a thankless job on his hands at Portsmouth and as expected, they're not doing well. I'm just not reet keen on bringing in someone who's got very little experience and only really known failure. Quote

Lee was a fucking embarrassment last time, in his MOTD interviews at least. Was well out of his depth and can't help thinking he would be this time. Caretaker role and steady the ship, yeah, he'll do, full time and give him another chance? I'd rather not. Quote

Im with you on this Zico.... Sammy Lee is proven to be a top coach/number 2....let him do what he does best. If were going to gamble on an unknown/up and coming manager, theres a plenty more that fit the bill other than Sammy Lee. Quote
campo'swig Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Sammy Lee as manager is an absolutely hideous idea.Been there, done that and not very successfully. This manager search is starting to become comical. Quote

That's why Allardyce was talking to him continuously during a game. He was the tactician and a first rate coach to boot. His problem last time was that he couldn't handle the big egos. Probably tried to change too quickly, but it didn't last long so you can't be too definite on that. I don't think that they'd make him manager again, but he might make Jimmy Phillip's right hand man. I suspect they'd give it to Phillips. Reading didn't do too badly when they promoted Brian McDermott from a staff coach without any management experience. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 fuckin hell are we basing sammy lee getting the job full time on a shit article on SSN that says if sammy lee impresses he'll get the role? if he goes on a 5 match winning run then yeah im sure he'll be considered. Quote

clown Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 The problem Sammy Lee has was he was trying to turn Allardyce's charges into players playing neat football. Square pegs round holes. A to C He's probably got more chance now that we've had a period of "B" Not that I'm advocating Sammy Lee as the replacement. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Itd be funny if we sacked Lee twice Quote
Guest Blixa Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Sounds like Lee/Phillips until the Norwegian season ends (unless we're on some kind of 'super run' under those two and they get the gig long term), then attempt to get the man from Molde in during their close season. Lee is making all the right noises about having a game plan, making sure the basics are being done right etc. He's a top notch coach. Which is why Phillips will probably do the managing and he'll do the coaching. Ju Darby brewing up. Quote

Ju Darby brewing up. looking very likely to be that now according to Dot Cotton who's now working at Glenco and does the wanderers laundry. she found big sam's number on a scrap of paper in gartside's £20 Asda suit, and it also said 'must ring in may if promoted to Barclays Premier League YHIHF Quote

Rembrandt Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Sammy Lee ? Again ??? I thought we were hacked off with Coyle coz he kept doing the same things and expecting a different outcome ! Lee as 1st team coach ? Definitely. Another go at being manager ? FFS NO. Quote
desperado Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Has it been confirmed what's happening in this short term period, is it Phillips manager and Lee coach or is it a joint management thingy like Todd/McFarland? Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Phillips and Lee were put in charge on a temp basis this was announced when Coyle went, I take that as they are in charge until otherwise needed Quote
