jules_darby
If someone turns up to interview for me in inappropriate clothing I won't interview them and send them on their way - a suit with no tie would be inappropriate. Sounds churlish, but it works for me

Youri McAnespie
What if someone pitched up wearing a dickie bow? Not a James Bond one, nor a Nation of Islam one, nor a tweedy History Professor one either... There's no real reason, but I'd turn them away too...I'd think they had something of the night about them.

Youri McAnespie
You mean like that wazzock from Bargain Hunt No, I forgot to add Antique dealers, whom nearly to a man, manage to look dirty/scruffy/sleazy in suits. As do members of Madness, him who does film reviews on BBC 2 (Mark Kermode?), David Walliams and The Kray twins (or the Kemp brothers when portraying aforementioned twins). That unfortunately I was unable to interview them as they were dressed inappropriately. Their reaction says alot; one chap asked if I would wait if he popped to a shop and bought one; I said yes as I thought it was a great answer

marple whites
To be fair, we have to pay for our dressdown friday and it goes into a memorial fund for a colleague that passed away. The money is then given to his wife and kids to distribute as they see fit.

Crawley
Pretty much whatever here - but always smart on client meetings. No suits though apart from press nights and even then its not obligatory. People would just laugh if you turned up to work in a suit everyday
Site Supporter Winchester White Posted October 26, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted October 26, 2012 In my field of work it (telecoms) it is unusual for us normal bods to wear a tie, only the upper management do so and even then it isn't all of them. Site Supporter Alf Hartigan Posted October 26, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted October 26, 2012 Weddings, funerals and interviews is the only time I'll wear a suit and tie, and the latter comes off as soon as I'm out the church/office.
