MalcolmW Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Id of rested them to keep them fit for the semi (not to prevent injury, but equally it reduces the chance of injury) Probably not the vast majority no, but that standard of football is a lot more tackles flying in McCarthyism? Quote

mickbrown Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The comment was defeatist There comes a time when either the player of the club holds their hands up and say 'this ain't working'. Holden, being the character he is won't, but the club will. Quote

onefinfrandsen Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 It dos nt look good for holden, but the guys so possitive, why should he give up.the steadman clinic [ presume he will use] is improving ligament injuries all the time. don t know the ins and outs of the the latest setback but would guess he won t have the same complications as the last two years. good luck stu, keep fighting mate. mickbrown Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I hope they don't sack him off, let our proper medical team sort him out through rehab I'm not saying they'll sack him off, but I'm assuming he was given a one year contract to prove his fitness. Can you see us giving him another one after this? Quote
DaveTheRave Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Did he actually sign the contract? I thought I'd read somewhere it was all agreed and he'd sign it when he got back from America. If this is the case I doubt that contract is still on offer today. Good luck to him whatever happens though. Real shame for the lad. Quote

shytalk Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 With proper medical attention and rehab, without the input of the previous quacks then he can earn another contract imo He has some of the best ACL surgery people in the world, in his own country. Having seen what happened to some NFL players he should take heart from their recovery. Adrian Peterson of the Vikings tore ACL and was back within 8 months to fall 8 yards short of all time running record, and gain NFL MVP. Robert Griffen is on track to do the same recovery. Quote

So surely MLS or their insurers will be paying his wages anyway edit just checked..they only paid £50k a week of his wages Edited July 30, 2013 by jayjayoghani Quote

Ghana White Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 If anyone can come back from it he can. We've got to stop looking at him as the great white hope, if he comes back its a bonus but don't plan on it. He's actually a footballer who sets an example for kids and can be held up as a good bloke, for that alone I really hope he makes it and that the club back him in his rehab. Quote
Astley White Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Absolutely gutted for Holden. I was beginning to hope we would have him back to his best this season. Gutted. But if he has not signed contract then I doubt club will renew. If he has signed then what can the club do. As much as I love Holden paying his wages for another season is not good for the club financially. Quote

onlyoneawalker Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) Gutted is not the word but enoughs enough we need to move on at pace if he gets back great but the lads biomechanics are done see Gardner Davis Hargreaves dyer these repeat injuries aren't bad luck. The mans a credit to himself no question and we wish him well but we can't be mawdling over this again for months we've got a season and promotion to get on with this seasons massive for us. Good luck stu but the BWFC ship has to sail on Edited July 30, 2013 by onlyoneawalker Quote
DazBob Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Oh right. Why not? Think it's been mentioned above but the US' equivalent of the FA should (hopefully) be covering his wages whilst he's injured as he sustained the injury representing the US, just like our FA did when Michael Owen got crocked playing for England.
