PGA Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Perhaps because US media outlets are the only people interviewing him and questions are therefore linked to their interests in him. lets hope so and the reality is he needs to knuckle down with us first. Quote
frank_spencer Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Logic has no place here Sorry I should know better. Quote
Casino Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 everytime I hear or read about him it comes across that playing for the USA is the be all and end all for him, after being injured 2nd time round playing for the USA(still dont think he should of been playing in the Gold Cup-should of been doing pre season with us) I think BWFC should be his 1st aim and concern and world cups should play a back seat. this is a great point he should have been playing against newport nobody ever gets injured in pre-season friendlies Quote
Rembrandt Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 If he's that keen to be picked for the USA World Cup squad, the odds are that he'll try to make a comeback far too soon for his health. With his injury record, that shouldn't be allowed to happen (again). Sorry, Stu. Concentrate on getting fit for BWFC, however long it takes. Quote
Casino Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 if he's that keen to play for the US, he'd only need to be playing by mid march sounds to me he's keen to be playing as soon as he can Quote
PGA Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 this is a great point he should have been playing against newport nobody ever gets injured in pre-season friendlies but Lee hadnt been missing for the previous season........... Quote
Casino Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 all the more reason to not have holden exposed to the newport cloggers, surely Quote
PGA Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 either way it could of happended playing for us or the USA but ideally after a season out it should of been with us who pay his wages contiuning his re habilatation. was he really up to playing competetive tournament football after such a long time out and a serious injury which included a failed 1 game comeback via Aston Villa? poor call by BWFC to allow him to play and a poor call by Holden not to give back to BWFC. Quote
Casino Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 he'd been playing for 3 or 4 months on and off and needed games very easy to be wise after the event i think you're wrong, you disagree i'm sure we'll both get over it Quote
Traf Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 He was fit enough to play for the USA and the latest injury was an unfortunate coincidence. It was in no way related to his previous injuries. Had it not happened, he'd have returned to Bolton at the start of this season in better shape than the rest of our squad. Quote
PGA Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Im sure Holden got over it quite quickly with a 3 year contract in the bank. Quote
Traf Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Im sure Holden got over it quite quickly with a 3 year contract in the bank. Yes, I'm sure that's his only concern. Quote

We had him playing for Sheffs Weds for a while, not under our supervision, and in competative games too. Not discounting the fact that if USA called him up for competative games, we could refuse anyway. Quote

I watched nearly all the games he was involved in and he was getting better and better. Just has no luck Quote

His rehabilitation was complete, he'd been on loan at sheff weds and turned out for us Had also played a few games in the tournament before the final The only way you could have avoided an unfortunate injury to his other knee, the one he'd had no issues with previously would've been to not play him at all, ever Quote
Ratwhite Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I thought it was a 12m contract? No wonder we're in so much (Eddie) debt giving lads 12million pound contracts Quote

Hopefully both knees should be equally strong/weak, but at least matched when he returns this time Quote
