DomRepWanderer
To be an acceptable league placing this season, I think the least we should expect top 10, but I have faith we are good enough for play off spot, how we do in the play offs is another matter. Mounts Kipper
Top 6 I'm convinced a good manager would piss that with this squad.
ianofcleveleys
Agreed, and presumably the expectation from the boardroom before a ball was kicked

Breightmet Boy
We ain't ready for a promotion push in my eyes, I know it sounds very negative but we are short of a team of players to keep us up who can dig deep. We've no Kevin Nolan's or beef to protect our goal.
Youri McAnespie
In a strange way I'd quite like to see Dougie leave, maybe then, after the dead cat bounce, we could finally dispense the mythical notion of having a 'great squad' full brimming with the right ability and attitude? Â I'm sure some are still clinging to the preposterous idea that, one day, Fathead will make a triumphant return, possibly riding into Euxton atop an ass. Â Well I wouldn't be saving your palm leaves up lads. Edited December 29, 2013 by Youri McAnespie

It seems daft to rule us out at this stage when we only started the run we had last season in February but we look less equipped than last season
Leyther_Matt
Another glorious failure on the fringes of the play offs will do me. Can't even dare risk getting promoted!
Juan.Kerr
I don,t think top six is out of the question, but we need some sort of defence organisation. And quick. The forwards are scoring now, but with a few exceptions we are still pissing goals. HazzyinBolton
Some consistency of selection & performance, with a bit of entertainment thrown in & a few wins will do.
glossopWANDERER
Promotion was the target if the target is not met then heads should roll. That target looks to be over already so heads should be rolling. Â All this bolloks about we shouldn't go up because we are not good enough is rubbish as a hand full of premiership quality signings would give us a fighting chance of staying up as it would with about 20 championship clubs. If worst happens and we go straight back down you re group and spend parachute payments wisely. Â Dougie out!

Moderators Horwich Posted December 30, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 30, 2013 Good squad? We have a squad lacking in quality. Our best players this season have been loan rejects from other clubs, who cant get a game at that club.

Playoffs being on 26 points at half way? So 43 needed from the 2nd half of season minimum despite having beaten no one in the top ten. Absolutely zippo chance. We'll finish middle, whether thats acceptable is for people in more important positions than me to decide
onlyoneawalker
I'd take mid table with good signs in final 3rd of season and good Jan window to show we could have a right good go nxt season

Moderators Horwich Posted December 30, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 30, 2013 Your best chance of going back up, is in the first two years of goin down. We have messed both of thise up
ex_midlandwhite
Your best chance of going back up, is in the first two years of goin down. We have messed both of thise up Is that definitely true? Does it depend on how long your spell in the premiership was? There seem to have been a lot of teams who had to go away, rebuild before getting promoted again e.g. Saints, Norwich, Palace, Hull, Man City (at the time), looks like Leicester may join that list. Â West Brom and Reading are the obvious exceptions but I'd say that is because they never established themselves in the prem and therefore didn't have the millstone of wage bills etc. Â I think long standing prem teams all struggle on relegation, Allardyce did well to scrape West Ham back up through the play offs otherwise they could be really struggling. COYW
Anyone who thinks we're not ready to go up has obviously forgotten about Hull. One of the worst teams ever to be promoted from this league and yet they're thriving in the Premier League. Then again they've got a manager who knows what he's doing. You could apply absolutely the same argument to Hull under Phil Brown, indeed they were probably even higher in the table at this stage. Either he knew what he was doing too or you are talking bollocks (as usual).
