Folk will always hate DMB but to consider them a rival is lunacy. Unless they sink like a stone,shed their global brand and become like us that is.

Blackburn will ALWAYS be the rivals for me - similar sized club, been similar in terms of quality of team over the last 10/15 years, been going for promotion with them in the late 90's early 00's too.

 

Natural order will be restored with Wigan soon enough like it has with Tranmere. They might be in the ascendancy at the moment over us but I couldn't give a toss about them. I hate Burnley, Wolves & Tranmere more

I went to Springfield Park when we had 3 sides of the ground

 

BUT it's 2014 and they are rivals

Jules is quite right.  Whether we like it or not they are no longer an irrelevance.  If they want a rivalry they can fucking have one as far as I'm concerned.

I think a lot of folk are in denial when it comes to Wigan being genuine rivals.

I don't think there is much between the teams, the difference is Rosler has come in at the right time and the initial upsurge you get with a new manager has continued, my view they have peaked will plateau and miss out on a return to the

premiership.

they are more than established in the upper reaches of the leagues

we were playing them at burden and sprngfield when i started going i'm all for this rivalry and I've only ever met one wigan fan in my life, at college (in wigan)

There was definitely a moody atmosphere around wigan at their place, like it or not they are becoming a rival and their young lot really hate us, 2 years ago they were insignificant, now much more so imo

however, I still found myself wanting them to beat City in last season's FA cup final and the tie a few weeks ago, so I'm not at full blown hatred yet (I still dislike City far more)

 

but having a City lejund as their manager, well, it's all falling into place

 

and I don't want them to go up, so we can play them again next season

After the Bolton match, Wigan's next 4 league matches are all at home (Leicester, Leeds, Millwall, Reading)..

If we beat them, and then Leicester do as well, that will be 3 defeats on the spin.
