Dr Faustus Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I will pay £90 to achieve recognition amongst peers tonight would've capped an amazing month, but cest la vie, st ives beckons, and I have grown attached to my testes Quote
Farrelli Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Got to agree with Whoareya? regarding Trotter's treatment. We're winning games so can't abuse the manager so let's boo the new signing instead. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Just got back, good trip out, Donny's a great little ground, far better beer offering than ours (though slow service) and belting pies. Thought the booing was as much about Mason being taken off and going back to what some saw as a negative formation as it was about Trotter coming on, though it did cause a bit of a kerfuffle among our own fans. Never been one for booing a player of ours, coming on, going off or while on the pitch and I didn't tonight but, yet again he was absolute shite. Don't get too giddy folks, if you weren't there, it was nothing special. We may be putting a good looking run together but we're huffing and puffing past poor sides. First 20 mins was really promising, carved them open but criminally wasteful in the final third, could have been 5-2 at the break. Second half, we completely lost our way, had no tempo, gave the ball away repeatedly and invited them to get back in the game, they just weren't good enough to accept it. Two sitters to clinch it near the end, both horribly missed by Beckford and Danns. Juke looks knackered, should have been given a rest with 20 left. Danns worked hard as usual and good goal, Mason frustrating, apart from the goal no end product despite some very good runs. Solid enough defending, though more of it needed than there ought to have been. Spearing showed his value second half, disciplined in front of back four. Ream played at a standstill all night, seemed incapable of moving forward in possession. No doubt Freedman's view of the second half will be that it was all OK and we killed the game but, after an entertaining first half hour, the rest of it was pretty poor fare Quote

I thought more defending was needed from the back four (and Bogdan) because the front 6 weren't very organised (or good) enough to defend further forward. Impressive run results-wise, but I'm nowhere near convinced by the football we play. Quote

I could half see the sense in what Trotter was supposed to bring in that Spearing and Medo were dropping ever deeper and therefore we needed a bit more of a link between midfield and the front line, but my word that man is shite. The Beckford miss was entirely predictable, but Danns' was absolutely horrific. Quote
Elephant Stone Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Just back. Long journey but well worth it. Great result and solid performance just a shame we couldnt capitalise further on a great start. We're heading in the right direction and if Dougie can build around this team in the summer then next season looks promising. Special mention for Boggers who is starting to look like a very safe pair of hands since coming back - nothing he could have done about the free kick. Them that booed the substitution can fuck off. Another great day out watching the Whites, roll on Charlton. Quote
anewman Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I booed, I even got the steward next to me to boo too Quote
Casino Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 just to be clear when we're winning playing badly its about performances but when we're losing playing well its about winning anything to have a good old grumble i'll just keep taking the 3 points, i really don't give a fook if its deserved Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) Special praise to nearly 800 whites for a nothing night game were building a nice away following, well done to those who travelled. ( even though I wasn't one) Edited April 9, 2014 by Mounts Kipper Quote
chief wiggum Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Not a bad experience at the Keepmoat, I drove straight from the office in Sheffield to the ground so got parked on a grass verge right outside ground, The Belle Vue bar at the ground was decent and the facilities in the ground pretty good too. Tbh though the second half was comically bad in parts... anyway, 3 points, onward and upward, bring on Barnsley..! Quote

The change had to be made, however Liam Trotter was not the answer, booing won't help his confidence though, I cheered when he touched the ball. He looks lost and unfit, but it's not his fault Dougie sticks him on. Just glad Beckford or Danns didn't bag in the last few mins to make it 3-1, my lad wanted a bet for Danns first goal and 3-1, I told him to not be so stupid.....phew!!!!! Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Phew indeed! You'd have been tilling him out from your own pocket, They were two bad misses to be sure, only defences were that Danns was knackered and off balance by the time he shot and Beckford had only been on the pitch a couple of minutes. Yes, he should put them away, but he's not being helped by only getting five minutes here and there and maybe feeling a bit of pressure to take the one chance that might come his way in that time Quote
jules_darby Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 What a cracking touch and finish from Mason. You're not wrong; great deliberate first touch Best I've seen all season that. Absolutely stunning Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Second time Danns ignored Beckford for a simple tap in if I were Beckford I'd be having a word. Quote
DazBob Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Second time Danns ignored Beckford for a simple tap in if I were Beckford I'd be having a word. TBF to Danns, this time, the defender was incredibly bad and just let him line up a shot completely unchallenged. He did the right thing in shooting ... it was just fucking awful. Quote

I think we may be internet high 5'ing again here as I agree completely...the defender would've had a better chance if he'd passed it God knows why he tried to smash the granny out of it and didn't just stroke it in Quote
