He was obviously brought up to believe that we had control over his wife and didn't like the things she was doing - such as gaining some sort of independence and properly killed her. The fact that his brothers covered up for him does lead to some sort of belief that this was acceptable in some way. Or you could see it as though it was a cultural problem rather than a strictly religious one - but the two things are pretty inextricable. This is not to say all Muslims are wife killers. There are plenty of those wherever you go, but it certainly was a contributing factor in this poor woman's death. She was in court as her parents had reported her husband to the police for kidnapping, however the victim had just previously given a statement to the police that she had married of her own free will.
